Ex: Live can be in arcade mode and have all the fouls turned up just like in simulation mode. Why not just have the flashy dunks show up in arcade mode but not when in simulation mode? That wouldnt be difficult to do and seems like a pretty good solution to me.

In response to what some of the people above who disagreed with me have been saying:
-First of all, there were no sliders for this in Live 2003. The only way to adjust it was to adjust each individuals players dunk ratings, and even then it didn't work.
-Second of all, this certainly was not just a problem in Live, as I mentioned. It was nearly equally a problem in 2K3 - in fact, probably the only reason why some people might say it was any less of a problem in 2K3 is because their animations were less fluid, so it probably looked less flashy.
-Third, who is it that said they never saw this?!! Nearly any player in both games could do a 360 out of a halfcourt set! Don't you guys remember the drive from the sideline capped by the 360 dunk?? And for those of you who say these dunks are somewhat realistic - please count off for me the last 3 360 dunks you've seen in real life NBA games.

In any case, the point of my thread was not to debate whether or not this was problem in Live 2003 and 2K3 - it clearly was, hands down. My question was if anyone knows whether it had been addressed. I think that idea about being able to turn ridiculous dunks on and off like switching between sim and arcade is a great idea. Of course, I want their to be the potential for a crazy dunk every once in a while - then I can jump out of my chair when it happens!! It's hard to get excited about seeing a 360 dunk after Dermarr Johnson pulls off his 3rd of the game. And that happened ALL the time.

No question, seeing someone do a sickalicious dunk in a game that's supposed to be a sim versus in a game that isn't supposed to be a sim is NOT the same and would NOT generate the same reaction. Let's pull the tightest dunk out of NBA Live. It would be mildly uninspiring in a game like NBA Street, because that game is even more over the top and it should be.

They should tone it down for rare moments, though, and when I say rare, I mean like once every 40 games rare....... and most people who buy a game play 40 games so they'd see it.... eventually....

                              Look guys,

We have to face the fact that the majority of people who buy these games are probably not interested in a 100% pure simulation.

These gamedevelopers are trying to appease both sides in a way but the dunks is something that will always be there because it appeals to the majority of people who buy the game.

Ex: Live can be in arcade mode and have all the fouls turned up just like in simulation mode. Why not just have the flashy dunks show up in arcade mode but not when in simulation mode? That wouldnt be difficult to do and seems like a pretty good solution to me.

That sounds like a good idea. But they're still probably going to market to the most people at one time and the general audiences reluctance to mess with settings sliders probably prevents this.
