I hope EA can put out something respectable just so it stays competitive in the development process for both sides. If EA can implement things like manual bounce passes, and other areas 2k lacks in it will give 2k the extra incentive to start including some of these features into their games as well. One thing i liked from the live series was their crowd atmosphere and organ music. I would like to see those areas continue to have success.

Baseball stunk until the middle of the generation. Madden IMO went from mediocrity to good then back to mediocrity. Hockey and FootballINT were weak. Live was terrible until 2004.
Peter Moore didnt mess things up. If you ask me EA Sports is better off this gen, its just that fans are more demandingComment

EA basketball has a chance to get back in the race in 2012,, IMO 2K has left the door open..Comment

Nah the worse case hasn't happened cause they still have people that are waiting for they're next effort and will drop cash on Elite/Live/Not-Quite-Semi Pro-But-Not Amatuer-Either or whatever the hell they're gonna call it whenever it comes out. If they don't show signifcant improvement from what they pulled out for two years for in the first place with they're next game, they run the very real risk of pissing off the LAST sliver of an audience they have left. This is the problem with promising three year fix it plans repeatedly and not delievering. Now they REALLY do need these three years or so but no one has any reason to give them those three years or as they're calling it now "a few years" because they're running the same game they've been running and making off with people's cash in doing so. Economy is too jacked up for the majority of they're consumer base to be buying into another round of 'give me your $60+ today and you'll get a product that's totally worth it two years from now.'Comment

Gamers should want competition. It is amazing how 2K gets a pass on being so-so with its NBA series yet EA gets crushed in other areas. Yes, NBA 2K 11 was great but only because of Jordan. The ganeplay and visuals were minor improvements over previous iterations
Not hating 2K because I believe they innovate like no one but no competition sucks. I dont expect EA's hoop game to better nor does it have to be. It only needs to offer something different.
As far as EA quitting, they made a crazy move not releasing Elite but the move to release it would have been crazier.
EA's games over this generation have made huge improvements. The NHL series is outstanding, FIFA is probably EA's best, NCAA Football (even with its flaws) is miles better and Madden 12 is the best in the series in a long time. Not to mention MVP Baseball would be an outstanding competitor to The Show.
Just hope the leagues (NFL and MLB) get away from exclusivity.
I do agree with you that EA is better overall this gen than last but as long as Visual Concepts has this mature approach to the way they balance their game its going to be really tough to catch them in hoops. Before 2k11 the game wasn't close to being an elite multiplayer game now its close to Call of Duty.Comment

Re: It Could Take a Few Years to Compete with NBA 2K Again, Says Peter Moore
That's EA's M.O.
Start on a new console with almost no features or options that were seen from the previous console.
Slowly build up the same feature list you had in the past.
Wait for new consoles to come out and repeat process.
NCAA on the PS2 had and still has more features than NCAA12 on the PS3.
Hopefully the Elite team will learn from that. This Goliath isn't getting slain with a few weak rocks.Comment
