I just played it at my friends, and its very good. He has it for ps2 and I didnt notice much slowdown. From the 2 games I played, the reviews seem pretty accurate. It seems a lot harder to score and its hard to get off mid range shots. The fast break sometimes feels like the only way to score. Sliders probably need to be adjusted to get an nba halfcourt type of game.

Re: Any Inside drive 2003 guyz play live 04 yet?
Live took ALOT of features from Drive and refined them. The Step-back, the jump-stop animation, and the laid-back realistic type dunks are all courtesy of Drive '03. EA didn't quite capture the team tendacies as well as Drive, so while the AI is vastly improved, its still a step behind.
I wasn't expecting much from Live, but I gotta say it blew me away. The one thing that Live has going on is that the variety of moves that can be SMOOTHLY linked. They also took a couple of pages from the 2K book by creating new animations for the tripe-threat such as more shoulder and step fakes. Sweet. Looks 100x's better than last years stiff animation.
The power-dribble reminds me alot of of NFL Fevers read and lead. I'ts very underrated and has gotten lost in the "pro-hop" hype. Using the same button as the pro-hop, it creates space (step-back move for outside, power-dribble for inside and a nasty mid-range drop-step) and looks incredible while doing it. Disciplined use of the "freestyle" moves along with these power-dribble moves can create some jaw-dropping sequences, like a nice face-up and ball fake followed by a nice spin move into a pro-hop. My buddy and I have done some nasty, nasty things with the better players, the combos are limitless. Again discipline and practice are key, no button-mashing (err..thumbstick-twaddling?)
Also, ESPN and ID will have to have some awsome defensive components to top the double-teaming, it adds a nice level of stategy to your team D.
The only REAL (eg. non slider fixable) negative I see is the lack team-specicific game flow. ID has spoiled me in this dept. Also, the slowdown seems to be a legit beef for some....I haven't really gotten anything noticable.
Graphically, the textures, player models and frame-rate while improved are still a step behind ID and a MILE behind ESPN, but the overall smooth feel may compensate, as ESPN still appears to lack momentum and realisitc inertia, making it still seem stiff and slightly robotic(Jury's still out for another week on that though).
My overall impression is that Isomotion will have to be super-tight to match the amount of freedom you get in creating your shot in Live, and ID may still have better AI but I gurantee it also won't have the variety Live offers for breaking down a D. Last year the creativity was over-kill, but this year, the D is so much better you really NEED these moves. Like Madden, Live may ALLOW too much "arcadish-ness" for those who don't know how to play with control, but for those who WANT to play their games realistcally, it provides a slick interface to do that too.....
1 to 10, I'd give it a 9.2. By the way I have had nothing but HATE for Live since my very first post:
Live fans who want realism?! So noble, yet so rediculous. Pt 1
So immense kudos to EA for a brilliant effort. This feels like a brand new game.Hank's Custom Collectibles 3D printer/painter extraordinaireComment

Thanks HM, that's what I needed to know.
Most of my gaming time will be spent offline and team specific tendancies are VERY important to me. I hate when each team plays exactly alike.
I'm actually looking forward to ESPN more than ID 04, but if the team tendancies aren't in ESPN...ID will be my bball game of choice this year.Fulham FC...Showin' em love.

Nice review from a guy who knows all the games...enjoyed it
Re the team specific flow, how is LIVE in that regard? I mean, do the Sixers and Magic ISO Iverson and McGrady? Do the Spurs go inside-out? LA run a triangle ?
Are Jersey and Dallas noticeably more up tempo than other teams like Detroit?
ie, does each game feel different like ID03 or is it pretty much the same game no matter who you are playing?
These things are pretty important to me...so any opinion would be valuedComment
