I did not skip the FA period, and Kobe, AI, KMart, Mo Pete and other huge name were available for league minimum at the start of my second season.

It will not update online in the Xbox or GameCube version because neither of these titles have online capabilities.

It will not update online in the PS2 version because there is nowhere to store executable code - there is no hard drive.

The PC version can be patched through downloads, but it isn't even out yet.

I have the PC version and XBOX version of Madden. On the same day came a Roster update and a bug update. For example they put Mick Vick for the next four week and Michael Bennet for the rest of the season. On the PC they fixed a sound bug and on the XBOX they fixed a number of bugs.

So pretty much YOU have to have online just to play these games because they do monthly updates that actually fix the game. Thats why I want to get the PC Version of LIVE as well when it comes out in November.

Do you have XBOX Live Fossum? Go in it and scroll down for Madden 2004. Download upate. Play Madden. Its that simple

As for the PS2 it stores it on your memory card as a m04 file and that file stays on your memory card till you delete it. If you do delete it your game is set back to default rosters and no update. Think of it as a roster file from ps2rosters.com or something
