Well its simple, they don't have the same goals. I see some of you saying that live has better gameplay than ESPN and vice versa but you can't make a comparison based on the 2 games cuz they're trying different things.
The Live game has an arcady run an gun feel to it just like the game of basketball played on the street or in college even. They have worked on making the best Basketball Simulator they can. And they did well if i may say so.
The 2k series has a slower(but uptempo) pace just like the game of basketball played in the NBA. The people at VC has worked on making the best NBA simulator they can, and this is apparent in the animations they use and the control they give you.
For example, throwing a lob to Kobe Bryant from Shaq and watch Kobe windmill dunk that ISH.
This happens i bet, and is natural and possible but has no place in an NBA game because it simpilty won't happen in an NBA game. Do you understand my point?
Therefore, to compare gameplay, it's gotta be contrasted with what the franchise was aiming for.
Maybe some people will think that the controlable pro-hop is a must have move for LIVe 2004 because it's a real basketball move. But The people at VC didn;t put in a controlable pro-hop cuz they felt like it's Not used in the NBA as much as the at home plaer would like it to be.
There are two seperate games for a reason. One is for one crowd, the other is for Die-Hard NBA fans who want all the realism. So it's kinda Ignorant to compare the gameplay without taking into account what the developer was going for.
That being said, how come i still can't hit a 15 foot jumpshot? what kinda basketball is that?

I want to see what people think of the game because I might rent it before espn comes out. What sarcasm are you talking about? If you look at these threads you'll get at least one person saying that this is the best game this year and that the gameplay is the best. Most of this is from the so called "2k guys".
