Really, if you don't think a player is rated high/low enough, then simply edit their attributes to your liking. I will be changing some, I know that much.

I do understand the opinion, but I feel like if you're giving Live a 5/10 than you very likely will never really like an NBA video game.
I think you missed the point. NBA live is an incredible simulation of the game of basketball, yes.
As far as an incredible NBA simulation, no. I too have more negatives to list than positives but i'm sorry, this is how i feel. A basketball simulator should NOT frustrate you.
I rented live and on the overall this is a good game, fun to pick up and play. Not the pretiest game i've played, nor smoothest, nor colorful but fun on the overall. Although this game has made huge improvements this year. The 10 man motion cap adds 10 levels of realism to this game and it is a welcome addition. Watching the players rotate on D and the Players off the ball screening each other was simpily breahtaking. But this holds true a problem of it's own. The defense is TOO fast. Maybe thats not the right way to put it but thats what it feels like. Is it just me or on the harder dificulty levels it's easier to hit a 3 than it is to hit an 18 footer? I just feel it's unfair that the defense rotated so fast that an open 18 footer is rare. The dunks in this game are FANTASTIC. That coupled with the new dunk button and your in complete control of your highlight reel. Which reminds me, the level of showtime in 2003 was rediculous and i've glad that 10 man has slowed it down but on the highler levels i feel like freestyle has nearly no use but to look pretty.
But the dunks also take away from the realistic feel of the game? Why? cuz NOBODY DUNKS LIKE VINCE.
In my first game on 3 star Difficulty, i had a 13 point lead with my cavs and frustratingly watched as a few wide open jumpers missed the net and turned into double teamed fadaway 3 pointers at the other end. WTF? it's like the CPU has catch-up Logic. It's sooo frustrating to see the cpu hit seemingly impossible shots consistantly. anyways i lost to the rockets by 10. One-on-One has been the focus of my gameplay, this is where i feel the least frustration occurs. One on one is soo much better this year as your are now able to defend against the freestyle. The freestyle has also been toned down to look realistic. I love the new moves in this game, but i feel they should have left some moves for streetball only(kinda like ESPN is doing with isomotion). I also have gripes with the plaer ratings too but getting specific would take up a full fourum.
To Conclude, This game is lightyears ahead of it's predessessor and if they continue to get this much better each year, they'll be at the top in a few years. Much more fun to play, much more realistic looking, and the commentary is great and is probably the best commentary in an NBA game.
I really don't understand why EA hasn't polished their players models, it's like i'm looking at them through a piece of grey translucent glass. But for the hardcore NBA fan, you should wait and see what VC and ID have to offer before making a decision. This game will hold true and steady for Die Hard live fans, and will also be Blast for them cuz of the few improvement this games boasts. But for a huge basketball realist and an evn bigger NBA fan, this game is frustrating. I'm getting 2k4 no diggety

The gameplay in NBA Live Cannot be compared with The Gameplay in the 2k series. Why?
Well its simple, they don't have the same goals. I see some of you saying that live has better gameplay than ESPN and vice versa but you can't make a comparison based on the 2 games cuz they're trying different things.
The Live game has an arcady run an gun feel to it just like the game of basketball played on the street or in college even. They have worked on making the best Basketball Simulator they can. And they did well if i may say so.
The 2k series has a slower(but uptempo) pace just like the game of basketball played in the NBA. The people at VC has worked on making the best NBA simulator they can, and this is apparent in the animations they use and the control they give you.
For example, throwing a lob to Kobe Bryant from Shaq and watch Kobe windmill dunk that ISH.
This happens i bet, and is natural and possible but has no place in an NBA game because it simpilty won't happen in an NBA game. Do you understand my point?
Therefore, to compare gameplay, it's gotta be contrasted with what the franchise was aiming for.
Maybe some people will think that the controlable pro-hop is a must have move for LIVe 2004 because it's a real basketball move. But The people at VC didn;t put in a controlable pro-hop cuz they felt like it's Not used in the NBA as much as the at home plaer would like it to be.
There are two seperate games for a reason. One is for one crowd, the other is for Die-Hard NBA fans who want all the realism. So it's kinda Ignorant to compare the gameplay without taking into account what the developer was going for.
That being said, how come i still can't hit a 15 foot jumpshot? what kinda basketball is that?Comment

Re: My Review - 8 Hours worth of playing
You know why Bibby's rating is so low? He is rated a 0, yeas a big fat 0 for dunking. I bet if you jack it up to 25 or so, you might get him up in the high 70's. I think the ratings are right on, I don't know why he's freaking out so much. Hell, I shot 60% in one game with Bibby, so yeah the ratings must be off.Comment

Re: My Review - 8 Hours worth of playing
Bibby LIT ME UP in the 4th quarter one game brought his team back from like 15 down!! OVERALL player rating means nothing; I mean technically someone can be rated 99 in mid and 3pt and be ridiculous, nailing every shot with but his dunk and post ratings might be 0, yielding a lower overall score...Comment
