Re: My Review - 8 Hours worth of playing
I gotta say that after playing Live 2004 last night, I loved itI passed on Live last year as I loved ESPN 2K3 last year, and while I'll still pick up Sega's offering, EA has me liking this game.
I never used freestyle last season and it's awesomeI love the fact that you can fake out players and have that control. The gameplay and animations are pretty good too although I still think Sega has a little advantage in player models but no biggie because this is a great game, even with all the bugs.
After trying out teams, I am going to stick with the Pistons. I enjoyed playing with them last night and Darko is a beast and he and Wallace make a great combo
So I am not adding any negatives and only want to say that this is the best Live game I've played since the SNES daysComment

Re: My Review - 8 Hours worth of playing
I do understand the opinion, but I feel like if you're giving Live a 5/10 than you very likely will never really like an NBA video game. I'm ridiculously happy with what they've done for the most part - I do see the framerate slowdown, and that's the biggest problem for me, but it's not even close to a gamebreaker. After playing Live 2004, I could never go back to Live 2003 or NBA 2k3, and although I'm buying 2k4, I doubt that it will take over Live as my game of choice this year. Honestly, the truth is that nearly all of your gripes can be fixed with both sliders and player editing. Entirely understandable that you don't want to have to edit all the players....but the thing is, player ratings can be very subjective I guess. You feel that the overall ratings are inaccurate. I myself, although I'll be changing certain things, feel like the player ratings in this game are a huge improvement and are one of the reasons I'm really loving this game - for the most part they're spot on - it's just that people are used to seeing anyone other than the absolute worst players rated less than 70-75, which if you think about it, is very narrow-minded and ridiculous. I will give it to you on the FA thing - it's certainly not a good thing, but I don't know why people are claiming it to be a huge surprise bug. Similar problems with signings, contracts, etc. have been a problem with each incarnation of Live (and 2k3) since franchise mode was first implemented. Overall, I think the gameplay improvements, once you use the sliders, make this the top NBA gameplay-wise that I've ever seen (and yes, I realize that 2k4 comes out next week - I'll check that out too, but I doubt it beats Live in terms of gameplay).Comment

Yep, I got the game last night and I love it. I don't know what you guys are talking about the "slowdown". I couldn't notice it for my lif if I had to. I only played a few hours, but will be on it all day today, online.Comment

Slowdown might be dependent on system, camera view, game situation, etc. I noticed it twice in my two games last night (PS2), playing on press cam view. Game stuttered for 2 seconds after a rebound and outlet. Picked up right after that. Not a big problem, IMO.Comment
