Re: Whys everyone taking such offense

I think its unrealistic to expect a perfect framerate in console games. I'd say 1/2 to 3/4 of the games I own have some sort of framerate issue. GTA3, Unreal Tournament, even the almighty HALO have times when the framerate bogs down. Its just something I've gotten used to. But I'd rather put up with a little choppyness than have to go upgrading the pc every year.

That's true about frame rates, but the competition delivers better graphics at a silky smooth and constant 60fps, so EA deserve their criticism I think.

Judging by videos and screenshots, I don't think anybody would argue that ESPN looks much better graphically. Some of us are more interested in gameplay, however. I don't think its fair to criticize Live (on whole) until we can compare to ESPN's gameplay. You are certainly entitled to criticize poorly implemented "parts", such as Free Agency and frame-rate slow downs. But to make a blanket statement like some have been doing, such as saying "NBA Live 2004 is garbage" is not fair at this time. If ESPN's gameplay was as good as I'm seeing in Live's, I'd pick up ESPN in a heartbeat. Hopefully, it will be.

Im not saying ESPN wont have its down falls, what im asking for is the features that are promised work and things that are basic like a decent framerate are included. I live with a smaller selcetion of shoes, or a few dunks or passes i dont like here and there. Dont get me wrong i think live has made strides and maybe thats the biggest problem. For what Live could have been it has fallen very short. The defense is very nice, the 10 man Free style nice. But whe the 10 man free style is so jumpy. Its not that this happens 2 or 3 times the whole game. It happens over and over. All games are gonna have some slowdowns i know, but the extent is horrible. And ive simmed about 3 or 4 seasons and done extensive research trying to get around the dynasty bug. Simply put the effort its takes to make it somewhat realistic i feel like EA should be paying me. AI changed team 3 times in 3 years. Ray allen 2 times in 3 years and ended up with the bulls with jalen on the bench. They had no need for him but just signed him. Those things, a few game platform generations ago id accept. But for 50.00 a pop with no return polices and a promised greatly enchanced franchise,I just wont The past 3 years blindly my friends and i have bought live no questions asked. Well this year live lost alot of friends.

ESPN might deliver the better framerate but I want to see how it looks compared to the 10 Man Mo-Cap that Live has. In 2K3 most of the guys just stood around and if a game doesn't have to display 10 different animations at once, it's going to have a better framerate. It does seem that EA is trying to drain as much as it can from an outdated engine. And of course coding it to run on slow PS2 hardware and not optimizing it for newer consoles contributes also.
