I am takin mine back to EB and pre-ordering ESPN. I just got live yesterday but what a disappointment. There is slowdown, the guys stop on fastbreaks, the graphics aren't as good as I expected, and worst of all the free agent problem. What is the point of having such a great, deep dynasty mode if after a couple years none of the stars are signed to teams!!! I thought it was a mistake at first and signed Kobe for the league minimum, but after going to a couple forums I realised it is a glitch

This is crazy! You only had it a day? WOW!!!!!!!

Does anyone utilize the tools they put into the game to make adjustments? Come on fellas. I'm not trying to convince anyone to keep it but dang. I'm having a ball with the game. I have accepted the fact that there is no way to correct the "guard ball" stance you get stuck in on offense. Nor is there a way to correct the "momentum freeze" after attacking the basket and your man gets stuck and can't move. I have a problem with blocks as well but I can deal with that (for now he he).

After making a few adjustments, I am on chill street. I will gradually go through and change the player ratings to where I feel they should be. EA as well as every other developer has gotten lazy when it comes to player ratings. I had to do the same thing with the 2K series. I said I wouldn't but this is the most fun I have had with a b-ball game in a long time. 2K3 was fun for a while but there was too much dunking and spinning to the hole....no defense!! Points in the paint was extremely too high etc..etc..etc.

With that said, I to will add this to my library. I just wish they had made it for XBox Live.

Lowpressure Out!!

don't bother trying to convince these clowns about LIVE2004. when ESPN comes out next week, there will be a bunch of bitchin' about that game as well. i am LOVE LIVE! just played a game this morning before coming into work. Bucks vs Sonics(me). it was a great game. R.Allen has a 3pt rating of 85 and he shot (good shots) 5-12, seems realistic to me.

also, the cpu AI is pretty good. the Bucks had TJ Ford guarding Barry. common sense would tell you to post Ford up, right, well i did, and abused him for 10 early points. what does the cpu do? switched defenders on him and d-team him everytime, forcing him to get rid of the ball.

the fastbreak issue rarely happens to me, why? because i throw the outlet pass to the player running in transition asking for the ball. this tells me he's ready to run the break. this is usually the pooint guard.

the players ball protecting stance happens because the defender is playin' tight defense, giving yu lil' room to make a move. if this occurs, back away from the defender, and use the some free style moves. if this doesn't help, then it wasn't meant to be (for this round) and look to move the ball & get a good shot before the shot clock expires. don't sit there trying free-style your defender til he bites. your wasting your time, and what fun is that. EA was smart for tuning down the free-style stuff.

the pro hoop can be your best friend and your worst night mare. the cpu will actually bait you into using it too much. when you think you've got it, you'll be called for a charge. i toyed with the charge slider, and this made a big difference for when i use the pro-hop now.

ppl complaining should just purchase ESPN when it comes out. after seening the videos of LIVE and ESPN i knew what to expect, and i honestly feel LIVE has got it this year, overall...
I am glad I got the Buell- I love riding it, I love the oddball looks I get on the road- I love people asking "What IS that thing?" I love flying into a corner WAY too hot, scared spitless and sure I'll never hold it at this speed- and hearing the bike whisper "Sissy!"...

Where can you return an opened game? Not Gamestop anymore...

Do you have a "special relationship" with a store manager or did you just mean trade it in?

Anyway after some cold feet because of "slowdown reports" I opened my copy of Live and i love it so far. The movement off the ball and defense AI is way beyond any b-ball game I have ever played. The "slowdown" does happen very occasionally in the paint/on transitions but it is so brief that it does not bother me at all. We are talking fraction of a second here.

Maybe 2K4 will be better or maybe it won't. But they will have to improve the off-the ball/defense AI substantially for me to regret buying Live. Better player models/lighting/24-7 will not do it.

I am keeping mine, because I have opened it, love it so far, and can't return it anyway

Re: So, who\'s returning the game?

Sounds like a rationalizarion to me...

I have decided not to buy Live this year. I refuse to pay for any video game, especially one as fast-paced as a basketball game, with slowdown and horrendous franchise bugs, not to mention players freezing at various times or not going for O-rebounds... Sounds to me like a lot of people here are liking it because they don't really have another choice. Not all of you, but definitely most.

So no, i'm not picking up Live. And don't bother saying "leave the forum" and "don't let the door hit you", because i already am and it won't.

Peace.

P.S. For those of you true gamers being honest, thank you for saving me 50 bucks.

I'm keeping Live but I really want ESPN, too. There's room for an arcade style and a sim style in the library. Sometimes you just want a different flavor. And no, its not rationalization, Live is just a fun game. Its not the 2nd comming, y'know.
