Re: Here is my in-depth impression....

So far I have been really happy with Live 2004 for XBOX, though I must admit I'm very dissapointed this game does not support widescreen 16x9, very surprising given that we are moving into the year 2004, widescreen should be a standard in games/movies by now. I have been reading other posts and I must admit two things, I am having the slow down problems as well as many others and I find it hard to spot up and knock the jumper down in this game, the defense literally pushes your players all over the court. Though, overall I'm very happy (but, I will definitely buy ESPN 2K4) I will keep both, they are both unique in their own ways.

I haven't even seen a team tendencies information screen? Good Lord, where is it?

From the "Main Screen," go to "Play Now" then select a team, and then hit Circle (on PS2).

If you aren't on PS2, there should be text at the bottom of the screen.. The one you want is "Team Scouting." The appropriate button will be next to it.

            It shows:

            Fast Break / Half Court
            Outside / Inside
            Physical / Finesse
            Man to Man / Zone

            For both teams selected..

Very neat, and also very informative. It also helps me determine how I should play a game with a certain team to find success.

Also, while viewing these Team Scouting Reports you can cycle through the other teams without going back to the team select screen again.. Very neat.

            Enjoy.

Re: Here is my in-depth impression....

Damn, has anyone played against the Mavs yet? In my Dynasty w/ the Raptors, I had a West Coast swing with the Mavs, Lakers, and Kings in 3 days. The first game, the Mavs just came out and torched me for 123 points. They ended up beating me by 18 (All-Star, 9 min quarters). They came out running, and didn't slow down the whole game. Needless to say, I was getting mad at Nash giving me all I could handle.
The next game with the Lakers, I was expecting the same running game, but to my surprise, it was nothing alike. The game started out with a fast pace, until I got up by 13 midway through the 2nd. They slowed the pace and worked it inside out with Shaq and Kobe, and by the half, I was down 7. The 3rd was more of the same until I adjusted and drew back within 5. The fourth quarter was all Gary Payton and Kobe. They torched me and I ended up losing by 15.
Sacramento was my last of the 3 game road trip. I was dreading it. The greatest thing happened about midway through the 2nd. I was up by 7, and the Kings started to run, and went on a 9-0 run, and in the crowd, the fans were ringing their cow-bells. It was great. That frustrated me even more, and I lost control and went down by 14. But as the game went on, I regained my composure, and played my game. It ended up with me being down by 2 with 4 seconds left, they had the ball. They tried to inbound the ball, and Carter stepped in and stole the ball, took it to the rack, and drew the contact, and made the bucket. Needless to say, I made the 3 point play, won the game, and that was the most gratifying game of videogame basketball I have ever played. Right now I am 11-7, and everyone is playing like they should. I would recommend this game to anyone.

Man... I just can't explain how deep this game is.

People complaing you can't fast break...and with the Cavs...their are times I push it, and can't get a break away. But once you start getting your flow...and you get momentum, I suddenly get a ton of fast break points. I had about 26 against the Heat. Once I got up big at the end of the game...it was like the Heat gave up...and all my dudes just broke away for garbage lay-ups.

It's as if the CPU can feel your strengths working, and opens up the game for you.

As for freestyle, it's perfect. I can work it with LeBron, and never feel like it's too easy. Every now and then, I am able to spin into the lane, jump stop, get the dunk and foul. But what makes it incredible, is it really feels like LeBron doing it. He's not too fast, or quick...more just great body control, and brilliant power. Completely different than freestyling with Ricky Davis.

And most of the time, the computer will play such tight defence, so you don't overuse the freestyle controls.

And damn...the off-ball movement. Sweeeeeet. I played the Knicks, and for the entire first quarter...Miles knew he could cut into the middle. Almost every time down the court, he screened for LeBron..the curled to the basket...LeBron hit him prefectly under the basket...and Miles scored.

But this doesn't happen all the time, nor every game. It's like Miles is REALLY thinking for himself.

The way the players role off screens...either for the jumper, or the basket...is just SICK.

I played a game as the Knicks last night against the Kings (fyi, MSG looks really good!). I was able to get Allan Houston off to a hot start (16 points in the first half, 8 min qtrs), but Sacramento started running and pretty much blew me out in the second half. And for all the people who have been complaining about Mike Bibby's "unrealistic" rating, he "managed" to torch me for 24 with 8 assists.
