Re: Is the free agent glitch that bad

last year 2k3 had the same problem. the computer would do rediculous trades. on my 2k3 francise ai got traded to the pacers and was #34. kobe was traded to the sonics then the rokets then the t'wolves....in the same season. KG wound up on the wizzards. the lakers traded shaq for mike bibby. this all happened in one year of franchise on 2k3. VC did not change this problem. their franchise is exactly like it was last year. it has none of the improvements of nfl 2k4 or nhl 2k4. such as the e-mail system. at leat in live the changes happen in the off season.

Eck. Allen Iverson was traded to the Pacers and given a #34 jersey to wear?

I bet Mel Daniels is happy about that. Or not. Add that to a list of reasons I have why the games should recognize teams' retired jerseys. I remember last year in NBA Live '03, Patrick Ewing was signed as a free agent by the Celtics and given #6. Mitch Richmond wore #23 for the Bulls. Lindsey Hunter wore #11 for the Pistons. Little things like that are what ruin realism for me.

Regarding wacky free agency signings in NBA Live. Well, I haven't gotten to the offseason yet in '04, but in Live '03 I was kinda ticked off by a few things. Foremost on my list was the fact that I, being 300,000 points or so over the cap, wasn't able to sign guys like Kevin Garnett, Kobe Bryant and Allen Iverson to contracts in the offseason, but then they took a minimum one-year deal with another team. Couldn't do anything about that, and of course teams are allowed to exceed the cap to re-sign their own players. So after Tim Duncan's one-year minimum deal with the Dallas Mavericks was up, they re-signed him to a seven-year deal for the maximum. Stuff like that in real life would have David Stern put the hammer to the Mavs just like he hammered the Timberwolves during the Joe Smith controversy. And of course Duncan's about ten times the player Smith is.

But at the same time, since everyone's consistently over the cap, no one would be able to sign anyone new to a maximum contract. But a guy like Tim Duncan or Shaquille O'Neal isn't very well gonna sit out an entire year, so what do you do? I dunno... but something needs to be fixed about this. If other teams can get away with that, I think I should be able to as well, is all I'm saying.
