I must really suck in general, because I've been playing on Starter from the get-go, and have tweaked my sliders from there (and in fact, I've only had to change the game speed and fatigue settings). I feel like I am getting a very good sim of basketball right now. Good teams will be able to beat bad teams on a consistent basis (but not all the time), and superstar players really shine. I'm seeing realistic block, steal, rebound, and assist totals. Only thing I may need to adjust is my free throw percentage, which is a tad high. But otherwise, I am quite pleased. To each their own!

p.s. Most importantly, I am not seeing any overwhelming issues with the computer fast break, as I've been reading from others. If I switch to the last man back after a missed shot, and turbo back on defense, I can generally get in position to either defend the ball handler, foul him, or try to get position to take a charge. Sometimes I cannot, especially against really good fastbreaking teams (like Dallas, NJ, etc.) But I'm not having problems with the Cavs running the break to death against me.

That's b/c you're playing on Starter. The higher diff. you go up, the worse the fastbreak thing gets....

It's great that teams like Dallas run alot but the problem lies with the defense. They stand around and stay on the offensive end while they watch players run by them down the court.

So why not base your sliders off of a lower level, where this is not an issue? The defense by default is pretty good on Starter, and if you need it harder, can try jacking up the CPU defense sliders. I guess my point is that in most of these games, the most difficult levels tend to resort to having the AI "know" your move. An analogy would be in All-Madden level, where the defense will know the exact play you are running, and tailor its defense specifically to defend against it. I find that the default (Starter in NBA, Pro in Madden) levels rely more on player ratings, and I can tweak the gameplay sliders to fit my expectations of realistic results.
