So why not base your sliders off of a lower level, where this is not an issue? The defense by default is pretty good on Starter, and if you need it harder, can try jacking up the CPU defense sliders. I guess my point is that in most of these games, the most difficult levels tend to resort to having the AI "know" your move. An analogy would be in All-Madden level, where the defense will know the exact play you are running, and tailor its defense specifically to defend against it. I find that the default (Starter in NBA, Pro in Madden) levels rely more on player ratings, and I can tweak the gameplay sliders to fit my expectations of realistic results.

I wouldn't do it solely b/c I don't feel the CPU gives me enough of a challenge. I shouldn't have to adjust slider settings to make things difficult in the sense that the CPU becomes godly. I would have to do this on settings for Starter. Bumping up the CPU on ball defense would be a way, but then you'd be getting bumped to the point where it won't feel like playing against an NBA player. You just don't get bumped THAT much. And I surely wouldn't up the shooting %'s....

I don't know... I feel that EA's games ALWAYS have that 3rd diff. level as the one most ratings based... All-pro on Madden, All-American on Heisman, All-Star on Live... hell, I haven't played NHL since Ninety-fo'!

Anyways, that's just my take on it. I know I'm not alone, b/c others seem to agree with me, but ultimately, it all comes down to personal expectations to what they want out of the game. I want the most sim-like challenge out there possible.

Personally, I HATED Live '03. Absolutely despised it. To be so in love with '04 is a big turn around, as I wasn't happy with NBA 2k3 either. The emotionless player models make the game feel bland to me... and their stiff movements during the animations... to be honest, (PS) Live '98 was the last game of b'ball I REALLY enjoyed. It was Live '95 before that.

Anyway, enough ramblin'... it really comes down to this quote:

Have y'all tried cutting crash boards "off"?

That was where many of my problems lied before on All-Star, and they only got a handful of those fast-breaks after that.

Have any of y'all with these fast break problems cut off crash boards already?

There's no real one solution to it. it's very realistic after another night of playing. I started making the right plays on offense and slowed the game down and they stopped running as much. If you take a three make sure you get his a** back on defense when you're playing teams like Dallas and Houston. The game is excelllent. The pro hop thing is a little too powerful tho. but that's a seperate issue altogther.....
