Re: Live \'04: The Subtle Things...

just saw the computer do the sweetest freestyle dribble with J. Williams of the grizzle. He was come up the court full speed and I was guarding him with S. Francis. Right before he hits half court he does the move where you tap up on the right analog stick. Your man lunges forward with the dribble and then pulls it back. Well needless to say that Stevie stumbled when he did it. But as soon as J. WIlliams was back upright he whips the ball around his back from left to right and just walks passs the stumbling Francis.
The move is so nice, I am watching it over and over. I will be in practice mode trying to duplicate this one for awhile after the game.

Oh yeah, my last game, it was late in the 4th quarter and for no apparent reason the crowd just start chanting Yao, Yao, Yao....I was waiting for them to bust out in the Yao Ming song, but they just keep Chanting 'Yao'
Good blog on video game patching

Re: Live \'04: The Subtle Things...

Before I finished reading, I have to ask this question. I'm already going to rent the game before I decide if it's the only basketball game I'll buy and quite possibly the last basketball game I'll ever buy.

I'm hearing that you can get called for traveling now, unlike previous years where you got called if you forgot to release the shoot button.

How do you get called for traveling? Do you have to tap a button to dribble? If not, how do you stop dribbling then? Once you stop dribbling, then does moving the left analog stick around cause you to move forward without dribbling, thus getting the call for traveling?

I'm not too sure if that made sense or not, lol.

One other question: Does the CPU get called for traveling every once in a while instead of always being called on the Human team only?

      Thanks guys!!

When I travelled, it pretty much went like this:

-I caught the ball and took a step,
-I stopped and held the ball,
-Then I did a freestyle and I was whistled because I had started dribbling again.

It's basically a boneheaded mistake of the user but I'm glad as hell that I get called for it.

I haven't seen the CPU get called for travelling yet. And if they ever did, I would just lose it and laugh my *** off.

I saw two things I never saw in any other basketball game.

There was a loose ball and Kareem Rush dove on the floor and grabbed it. He sat up and passed the ball to a teammate while sitting.

The Lakers were blowing me out by 25 in the fourth, so they called a timeout and brought in all of their scrubs. This is probably in other games but I never saw it before.

Re: Live \'04: The Subtle Things...

I've seen that before too. The first time it happened there was only about a minute left in the game and I was up about 15. They call timeout and move the ball to halfcourt. I'm thinking, well there's some stupid AI for ya, why would they even bother to do that with so little time on the clock. The next time it happened (same sort of scenario) I was thinking 'Houston, we have a problem' until I realized that all of a sudden there were no starters in the game.

                        Classic.

Maybe next year they can do a better job of showing the scrubs coming off the bench, with a cutscene or whatever, but hell ya, that's damn cool.

By the way, one of the little things I seriously appreciate in this game is that THERE ARE NO CUTSCENES. Other than when a player gets injured and the opening/closing scripts, I haven't seen a single one. I don't know about you guys but I seriously love this. Maybe that's how they seem to have about 3 times as many animations in the game as 2K4 - they didn't waste space on stupid cutscenes that you only ever watch once anyhow...

you get called for traveling when you pick up ya dribble and then try to do a triple threat spin move or something in that nature
