If he said this (I animate by hand better they the animations in Elite.) what does that have to do with anything the new team do? Is it because they still under EA? Elite was made by EA Canada and we have yet to see anything EA Tiburon has made for Live and thats why he couldnt answer the question.

In the view of the general public, after the NBA Elite fiasco EA basically lost the benefit of the doubt once and for all (and rightfully so).
We are pissed because they invested a huge time looking into a doomed foundation in what was regarded as a once in a lifetime development cycle opportunity.
That's where all of this bashing is coming from. One just can't come in here and ask us to be in wait-and-see mode (for the umpteenth time) after we've been through. That Kotaku article indicated they choose the wrong course of action.
We're all voicing our opnion in this thread because we care. Like many others in here, I'm dying for a great NBA Live game. I want it to be awesome.
It's just not looking good right now.
Hopefully we're wrong and they will show us a strong product. Hopefully...Comment

I also am disheartened by this article and admit things arent looking good but to claim they've chosen the wrong direction after not seeing one gameplay clip.
I know this is a huuuuuuge longshot but for all any of us know at this point this could be the best game ever made.
Nba live 13 is in a position I don't think another EA game in a long time has been in. All the hype in the world isn't gonna sell it. Most sports gamers are familiar with the elite debacle and will be very skeptical no matter what this dude says.
I think the "low expectation" route is the right one here for EA.
I don't know how many times I've gone to a good movie with high expectations just to leave it feeling like it was mediocre. Or going to a mediocre movie with no expectations leaving thinking it was awesome.
One more hype train wreck for this franchise could be fatal.2016 NLL Champion Saskatchewan Rush

Not all of them but some. A big reason I believe EA's animations is not smooth is because they still run their games at 30 fps and its not just sports. I think they had some good animations for instance go-to-moves was on point and a lot from Live 10 but due to the game running at 30fps the animations suffered because they don't draw out on the tv screen fast enough. Its all about making things work properly like they said in the article.Last edited by Jay Jay; 04-30-2012, 01:54 PM.Comment

Even BF3 still run at 30 fps and honestly I don't know what EA problem is. I believe once they make that change they would have top selling games but untill then people will always bash them for how poor their games animate. Look at how the COD series animate vs BF series and NBA 2k vs NBA Live. Most of EA games look like a glitch fest compared to games that run 60 fps.Comment

First off... I think they need to seperate themselves from the very thought of NBA E-Lite because there was alot wrong with it from jumpstreet
I don't expect them to make a 3 year game, but they can't come after all of this time as weaksauce and excuses. The standard has been raised to a very high level at this point, akin to going to prison and coming back out, the world has changed.
If they've only had 1 year to work on this game frankly im not necesarily buying into how fresh its going to be and how they plan on standing out from 2k, aside from being not 2k.
Its cool for you guys to have an online game that you can play online and all, but as a solid NBA BASKETBALL GAME.... there is no excuse to release another generic non NBA game....
If we've just waited all of this time for more excuses, EA's biggest mistake is letting a Hockey guy come in and completely screw up the concept of what basketball should be and they'll still be paying for it even this year
You had better believe that, this wont be a day 1 buy for alot of people and its going to be analyzed to death.
"Yet the most palpably concerning expectation felt by NBA Live 13's developers is that gamers will think this should look like and play like a simulation basketball video game built with the luxury of a three-year schedule. It is not."
Now, I guess that hope has transferred to 2K in that they will improve upon their last few offerings.Comment

Re: NBA Live 13 Features Full ESPN Branding, Focusing on Gameplay, Presentation & Onl
I don't know what they could possibly have "salvaged" from NBA Elite. Not a single thing in that demo was good. It was an utter disaster in more ways than I thought were even possible. Not only did Elite have an obscene amount of glitches, but the gameplay itself was also horrifying. Offense was bad, defense was bad, the animations were bad, playcalling was bad, and the AI was ridiculous. That demo was the Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing of basketball games.
So, what exactly did they salvage? I'm really curious.Comment

sorry man but you should tell the devs they shouldn't need any ideas or comments from us anymore. it's been two years of down time and if they wanted ideas these forums provided lots of them before the debacle of Elite.
some of us are sick of providing feedback and ideas that does no good.
ea needs to put up or shut up no one cares about blogs, interviews or opinions anymore.
everything should be judged strictly from the game itself....until most of us see how the game actually plays we aren't getting our hopes up high anymore.NCAA FOOTBALL 14 ALUMNI LEGENDS CPU vs CPU DYNASTY THREAD

Re: NBA Live 13 Features Full ESPN Branding, Focusing on Gameplay, Presentation & Onl
It's understandable many are still mad at EA. They had two full year cycles to make a game but then they are only using one, I wish they began earlier but they abandoned the idea on continuing with Elite so it makes some sense that it took them a while to find a new team in Orlando to make a new game.
There's little to no hype in this article which could be seen from two points of view, one is that they've learnt from the Elite fiasco that overhyping a game isn't going to help them anymore or that they don't have much confidence in their new project. I prefer to believe the first option but who knows.
Despite its (many) flaws, NBA Elite had some things worth using like the idea of a live ball, the approach of Real Time Physics (even though those didn't work well in the demo), Real AI (although we couldn't really see it), the Become Legendary (which I hope this move is improved) and the Online modes that it was going to have (EASBA for example).
Even if they abandoned the controls of the game (I liked the idea of skill based shooting) I hope they kept something about the dribbling controls because it felt smooth but it would be better if they've expanded the possible moves.
I don't like the idea of a computer deciding what I want to do, that takes the liberty of the user to play the way one wants which isn't a good decision in my opinion.
I agree about why does EA have to compare its game with 2K and name its problems even they acknowledge how good NBA 2K12 is, they should concentrate in making their own game great instead of trying to make better what 2K doesn't do that well.Comment
