Why does NBA Live look so robotic?
I don't know why but whenever I look or play NBA Live the animations look SO robotic and it feels like you're controlling robots e.g crossovers all look the same..there's NO authenticity etc. This HAS to be fixed, otherwise the excellent presentation and AI will go to waste. On the other hand 2k despite some major gameplay issue feels more real and has MUCH more better shooting and dribbling animations...I really hope EA improve on this aspect on gameplay by investing in better mo-caps and animationsTags: None -

Re: Why does NBA Live look so robotic?
Live is robotic because they building on the old robotic animations, they still claim they have state of the art animation tool 'ANT', the same tool that laid the foundation of elite 11, so bro dont expect the robotic feel to go away, unless they have an alternative animation tool beside 'ANT', can almost guarantee thatComment

Re: Why does NBA Live look so robotic?
Live is robotic cause like all ea sports games they give you the ability to perform any move at anytime and branch to others. so you kind of need a clean slate stance and not be stuck in animations that while they might look realistic, they actually hamper what you can perform.Comment

Re: Why does NBA Live look so robotic?
I would tend to agree. NBA LIVE was never good with the physics aspect of the game. They like to make the controls accessible for the casual gamer, which is why I'm probably going to stick with the 2k series. It's by far a better simulator.

Re: Why does NBA Live look so robotic?
LOL im pretty sure theres no big authenticity man, its funny that when hiphopgamer asks if the fadeaway move have different variations and styles between players, the developer actually changes the subject and talks about the former Dynamic DNA, which they using Synergy data to influence players actions on the court, like tendencies to either drive to the left more or shoot corner 3s, which has nothing related to different variations of a move at allComment

Re: Why does NBA Live look so robotic?
The word I would use to describe Live's animations is generic. They never implemented enough variety to differentiate the players, so every player passed, shot, rebounded and dribbled the same because they were the same animations.
The way it looked robotic to me was the way the animations transitioned to other animations. There are too many instances of players defying physics because the speed and distance of many animations didn't smoothly transition from the previous animation. NBA Live 10 was their best effort at smoothing them out.Comment

Re: Why does NBA Live look so robotic?
even generic animations could be made to look human .
they are missing too many frames in transition, and the speed of many of the animations in not human-like.
Until they fix these basic issues, they will continue to be criticized for their efforts.
their animations from elite 11 were comparable to basketball games from many years ago. They need to update them. they need to scrap any underlying animation code from previous lives and start from the ground up.
maybe when ps4/720 come out, they will update somewhere in 2015-2020Comment

Re: Why does NBA Live look so robotic?
EA has major animation problems with both Football and Basketball. Neither one has ever looked good this generation. Live 10 was their best effort.http://twitter.com/sageinfinite
