Re: Why does NBA Live look so robotic?
No it isn't. The new engine first made its appearance in NBA Live 07, and they tried to do everything in one year which was a disaster so they scrapped it and built on it from scratch starting with Live 08. I don't know if they are still using it or have upgraded, but I think they are still using it.Comment

Re: Why does NBA Live look so robotic?
Live is robotic cause like all ea sports games they give you the ability to perform any move at anytime and branch to others. so you kind of need a clean slate stance and not be stuck in animations that while they might look realistic, they actually hamper what you can perform.Comment

Lol uh un. Then why are they just as or more robotic when you arent controlling them or they arent transitioning? I could live with robotic animations if they are in a cool, complex transition like Backbreaker. Live looks robotic when they are doing simple animation so that excuse doesnt fly.Comment

Re: Why does NBA Live look so robotic?
I don't know why but whenever I look or play NBA Live the animations look SO robotic and it feels like you're controlling robots e.g crossovers all look the same..there's NO authenticity etc. This HAS to be fixed, otherwise the excellent presentation and AI will go to waste. On the other hand 2k despite some major gameplay issue feels more real and has MUCH more better shooting and dribbling animations...I really hope EA improve on this aspect on gameplay by investing in better mo-caps and animations
what they should have done is kept the dribbling packages in. not so you could do some moves with one button push. but so different players could have different Styles of crossovers. for instance. AI used to carry the ball when he crossed over. hand would cuff the ball to bring it from right to left and back.
a guy like kobe. doesnt cuff the ball as much when he does his crossover. a guy like nash pitty pats the ball from right to left. but very quickly.
same MOVE(crossover) but all done with their own flair.
as far as LIVE being robotic. i think since they are trying to go easy on the animations. they have a situation where they only allow certain parts of the players body to move. they do the motion capture but only turn on the capturing for lets say the waist bending movements, the arms, the knees, and the aknles/feet/legs.
but there isnt any body movement on the torso. so it looks like the arms are moving but the body isnt. they need to captur FULL body motion of a lot of ballers.Comment

Re: Why does NBA Live look so robotic?
let me address the crossovers. if what 2k said is true. then their crossovers will be much more responsive to user control. but they will all look the same, just varying speeds and some people wont be able to perform certain moves.
what they should have done is kept the dribbling packages in.Comment

Re: Why does NBA Live look so robotic?
i hope you guys are right because it sure sounded like the packages were out. or perhaps the question wasnt asked right. i hope not. since to me they dont need to be. when you still have controll. the controll should controll the default moves. crossovers, around the backs, double crosses, hesistation, in and out, half spin, spin, etc. but the LOOK of it, should be its on depending on the player or if its a my player depending on what you choose. like i said. if i want a my player guy to have AI's carrying illegal crossover for my crossover. then that should be what it looks like when i rock the sticks from left to right. if i want a dwill cross over. it should look like dwill when i rock the stricks left to right. so i hope you guys are right.Comment
