I dont like the PC version....perhaps the XBOX is superior??

The game has alot of potential...it does do many things right and has tons of great animations and captures the feeling of really shooting a ball better than any other game. The rotation of the ball, the follow thru of the player's shot, the tons of bump , grind, and off the ball animations really give the game a wonderful feel.

However, there still seems to be some issues I've noticed in the pC version. First off the game engine is terrible. The motion captured movements and transitions into different motions can get very choppy at times and feel inconsistent. Certain movements will just skip transistions altogether or just seem too speeded up in comparison to the rest of the flow, very noticeable on freestyle dribbling and special moves and changes of directions....it can get pretty sloppy at times and loses it's fluid flow. Also certain passes just shotgun out of player's hands without convincing passing animations and appear to rocket or pinball around the court like last year....however it has been improved a bit

I am VERY tempted to try the XBOX version because EA seems to always capture better fluidity and tighter analog control with their console versions of all their sports games. The PC just doesnt get the solid ports.

Anyone know if the XBOX version of NBA LIVE 2004 is a much tighter more polished feeling game?

There is major chop in the Xbox version also.. you are out of luck. I was hoping the PC version would be smoother.

          What are your specs?

Brian --the chopiness is not in the PC version if you have a computer that can run it.

                Pentium 4 800FSB 2.8ghz overclocked to 3.2 ghz
                1gig of DDR400 Corsair Ram
                120gb SATA Maxtor HD
                ATI Radeon 9700 PRO

I think the game, pace and flow is very arcadish and the player transistions and movements arent very fluid. There ARE a ton of cool animations but the player movements are very inconsistent at times and the rocket pinball-passing is still there from last year....not very realistic.

I was hoping the XBOX was a better more fluid experience.

I have not witnessed this choppy play that you speak off, and I'm comparing to the XBOX. If anything, the game is actually much improved in this particular area. Definately make sure your system is running at optimal rate. Clear all antivirus and background apps to free up unavailable resources. Update drivers, defragment disk, etc, etc. Disregard if you've tried the above.

Anyhow, how long have you had the game? Give it time. As time progresses, you should become well acclimated to this NEW engine while understanding how to manipulate various scenarios within the game which may seem hopeless or restrictive at first glance. Also make sure you have a capable and precise controller such as the logitech dual action pad. I LOVE the Xbox controller for the precision and force feedback effect, however the logitech dual action provides virtually the same precision control only without the feedback.

You should find several answers to your specific questions here as well as roster updates, player patches, etc.

                            Your right!

I just installed the game... all details maxed.. res..1280 by 1024.. That's as high as my flat panel will go

                            System Specs

                            3 gig
                            512

                            Geforce 4 Ti 4400

The game runs smooth as silk! Thank god, after a big letdown on the Xbox, I am happy with Live on the PC...
