Blow through what roof? Lol. Did you forget who is on the cover if 2k14? Live 14 will get slaughtered in sales sales even with the amount of lebron haters

I spend the majority of my time on 2k13 in the My Career mode, so I would love for Live to have it. 2k has some nice features, but the mode itself feels too scripted and unrealistic. It's near impossible to be drafted #1 overall, no matter how well you play in the Rookie Showcase (triple-double with 67% FG%, 1 TO, A Teammate Grade, and I still went 5th overall). The pre-draft interviews are boring, and only having 4 choices really limits you. You unlock the same posters, commercials, magazine covers, etc. in the same order, and they don't really do anything. Also, why is my player wearing a suit with a headband on the cover of Style (or whatever it's called)? Can't I at least choose my poses for the magazines and posters? The press conferences are way too scripted, and don't seem to have any effect. Plus there often isn't a choice that says what I really want to say, much like the pre-draft interviews. As someone mentioned above, not being able to sim single games is a huge oversight.

Basically, if Live can do it well, and make it a mode that you can really get involved in, I would be ecstatic.
Havent played association mode in 2k13? Do they stilll have your players walking off the bus in a headband? Smh

I think it is needed. Career modes have become a staple in sports games.

Think about it, imagine how much heat EA would take if it didn't have it?

Yes its needed. Your basic feature set for a sports title is Exhibition or play now, online head2head, franchise/association, and the career mode where you control the single player. EA has to give us the basic feature set.
It’s easier to do the right thing, than to explain why you didn’t.

NCAA Football 14 has a good presentation, it's very real.. If NBA Live could translate this, in all the modes then it will surpass 2k
if EA know like i know they would be seeing would 2k has in their mode to see what they need to add like oh for instance playing in a blowout if i'm a star i should be on the bench if the game is out of reach, out of bound plays make my teammates actually do something other than stand there and let them inbound the ball. it's like seriously how do ppl hype 2k that much when things like constantly get overlooked

Superstar modes in sports games are silly marketing gimmicks catered towards the lowest common denominator. Basically 80% of user control in the game is replaced by stupid AI which I don't find fun at all.

No way they don't need a "superstar" mode to be successful. I don't touch the MyCareer mode in 2K and never played RTG in NCAA or superstar in Madden.

For me all NBA Live needs to have is a solid franchise mode, something 2K seriously lacks. The online mode is laughable and the offline mode isn't much better.

Not the highest of hopes but we'll see

Re: Is Superstar Mode Needed For Live 14?

My Career is something a lot of people enjoy, I don't know what the guy up there's talking about..making it seem like only casual basketball fans enjoy or something. But that's not the point...

The most played online game mode on 2K is 1v1 quick match, after that? It would be Crew (which hasn't been in since 11), I think Live needs to not only add Superstar but also Crew.

2K has no competition so they could be lazy with their game modes, but EA should know that they could grab a lot of people from 2K if they include a really intricate crew mode: tournaments, playoffs, lots of stat tracking, customization, etc.
I don't wanna be Jordan, I don't wanna be Bird or Isiah, I don't wanna be any of those guys.
I want to look in the mirror and say I did it my way.

Superstar mode will easily dominate MYCareer, I feel like MyCareer is starting to get stale and not much is happening with the mode

I loved the be a pro mode in nhl and fifa so if they can put something similar to those on nba live 14 and the gameplay is good I may end up getting it over 2k.

sidenote how does the number one overall draft pick still come off the bench like for real 2k?

Honestly, you could make the lowest common denominator argument either way. Having a mode where you only control your one single player makes you have to learn to play with your teammates. When you control every player, there's no guesswork to it; you make every player go where you want them.

Career modes can be great with good AI.

I've been a 2k fan since the 1st dreamcast game, but I'm actually rooting for that to happen.

I'm sick of the game becoming more arcade every year.

They just don't care anymore about improving the game (see Create a player mode, association) and not only that, they even laugh in front of our faces like what they did with the 2k insider video....

I hope Live destroys 2k for the next generation

Back on topic, yes, Live needs some kind of "be a pro" or my career mode. Just like association it's considered a standard for sport games nowadays

that's cause 2k listens to their customer base. The original version of my player was deemed to cumbersome by the majority of the users. In response, 2k streamlined the mode, by making progression easier, and the ability to start quicker etc.

all my player modes in all games have followed the same path. most are streamlined or can be streamlined for quicker progressions.

the mode's goal is to be fun. Even if EA has a more in depth my player/superstar mode it will eventually wind up being streamlined.

folks tend to forget that the hard core sim gamers are not the majority; so alot of these comments on here tend to skew the numbers and opinions. the end result is folks on here wind up thinking that the actual "hardcore" sim gamer community is larger than it actually is.
