Re: NBA Live 14 Gameplay Trailer

Alright, I'm going to raise the level of discussion in this thread.

We arent allowing people to make posts like this anymore:

    "2K>LIVE"
    "LIVE IS DEAD....LONG LIVE 2K"

If you are going to post in this forum or the 2k forum, you will have to support your statements. You will have to state why 2k is better than Live or vice versa. If you dont have the time to do that....dont post your comment.

Anybody who posts similar posts like those above will be immediately banned.

Side by side comparison video of the two trailers. People are really exaggerating the difference in quality between the two trailers.
      ......

@aholbert32 Do you know how long it took me to find this gif? Can I still keep it even though you made a ninja edit?

In any case, just on a graphical and animation level the 2K trailer is better. The Live trailer showed more (the dribbling and some of the shots), but what 2K did show (the dunks, the emotion on the player's faces, the jerseys) was miles better than what Live showed.

Go back, watch that trailer, and then tell me with a straight face that Live's dunk and the gathering animation for the dunks were better.

No we're not. 1 game came out looking good, the other came out looking like a current gen game with improved graphics.

Both games look promising, but that's me.

A couple of things that are AWESEOME:
              1. Foot planting. Everyone has been complaining about foot sliding in 2k and there is NONE in this trailer. Great footwork.
              2. Very quick dribbling moves. Sometimes the moves in 2k feel slowed down. These are incredibly quick. This will likely lead to a better 1v1 game.
              3. Spacing looks better than 2k (in my opinion). In the Steve Nash pick and roll zoomed out shot you can see how much spacing there is on the floor. Very nice.
              4. Signature jump shots looked good. I especially liked Tim Duncan's jumper.
              5. I'm a Blazer fan - the Rose Garden looked sweet.
              6. The player faces were spot on.
              7. Arena lighting was excellent.

Stop the negativity people. Get pumped! We have two games to play in November!!!
You seem to like, that's all that matters. If you liked Live 10, then I guess this is the game for you. There was always something about this game that just didn't do it for me. Most of what you listed is true, but none of it translate well together throughout gameplay (referring to past Live games). 4 years down, this game should move and look a hell of a lot better than this.

The sad thing here is all of you people getting angry and telling people what they should and shouldn't like.

If you don't like it, say so. Don't put down others if they do.

Synergy is something that they really advertised along with bouncetek, wonder when they'll be able to show the difference w/ and without it.

Probably going to hear more about modes (All-Star Weekend, Rising Star, Online, etc.)

Re: NBA Live 14 Gameplay Trailer

The video was a tad underwhelming, but for the first game they have released in 3 years with all of the turnover they've had, it doesn't look too bad. Granted, it would've been nice to see something completely different or at least close to those E3 clips. Graphics-wise it isn't even close, although many of the faces look great. Some other aspects of Live's art design are better as well.

The gameplay (from whatever we can gather from those spliced up clips) looks decent enough that it will be a solid foundation to build off of for the future. It's still Live, but I enjoyed EA's 2010 basketball offerings. If this game can provide a solid change of pace that isn't completely broken then I'll be willing to drop some cash down for this in the future (at a discount).

Just wondering because I've missed about 8 pages worth of posts, did they confirm real time physics to be coming back? Because if it is and it works well then Live will definitely have my attention.

No I honestly think they're not Live 14 looks so plasticky while 2k looks like well this...

Can you honestly say anything in that Live trailer looked as good as this?

The video definitely had some nice spots in it. The shooting looked like their actual counterparts, especially Melo & Duncan. Dribbling was pretty good too. I'm still kind of disappointed that the moves still seem like a bunch of animations, it seems not as fluid as it could be as far as movement. Defense is entirely too stiff. Big example is when Rose goes by the defender & he's still standing in his stance. Then the defense didn't react that well to Nash's floater. EA still has work to do, but it doesn't look bad.

                              My impressions are here:

People need to understand the contextual differences between the 2k trailer and the Live trailer. The former has an obvious advantages in facial animations, but outside of that, you can credit a lot of the perceived gap in graphic production to the distinct methodologies behind how the clips were captured. One is slow moving, makes heavy use of zoom, and features a ton of cinematic cut screens/sequences in moments where the action is stopped or slowed.(pre game, free throw, time out, etc). The other moves at real time, while focusing more on signature dribble packages/shots(Kyrie, D. Williams, Lilliard, Duncan, Green, Melo, etc), and actual gameplay sequences.

2k's trailer was probably prettier, and therefore had more of a "wow" factor, but Live has a lot of good here as well. There were a few moments that were questionable, mostly on the defensive side, and I hope the crowd sits for a breather during actual gameplay, but for the most part, it looks good. Bouncetek could definitely be something that pushes the genre forward if it plays as smoothly as it appears in this trailer. EA isn't totally there just yet, but they're moving in the right direction. NBA Live 14 looks like it can the solid base for reestablishment that EA has long needed.
When it's less zoomed in, 2k's models like like higher resolution versions of those they've had for years. The facial animations have taken leaps, and the jerseys are better animated, but no, I'm not as taken back by 2k's visuals as some of you obviously are. I suspect the games will appear similar graphically on an HDTV.

Take off the EA fanboy glasses. It's really not close.
