Re: Questions on NBA Live 14? VSN to interview EA's Ryan Ferwerda and Scott O'Gallagh
Bill did ask them @ 21:00 about online co-op multiplayer. They said, unfortunetly we aren't talking about the online yet.
With only 2 weeks untill PS4 releases, next week they had better really open the floodgates on more detail about the gameplay, start showing some longer 5v5 gameplay, and talk in detail about the modes and online info. If not their really gonna have a hard time getting very many pre-orders.Comment

I'm intrigued by the fact that they said we should be very pleased with the pre game and halftime show. Hmmm.....
The post game sounds nice.Last edited by NoTiCe_O; 11-01-2013, 08:26 AM.Twitter - @OtistheOriginalComment

they said a lot of the right things, and they seemed real about it, like they werent trying to hide anything. but we still have to see how it translates to the actual game.
i like what they said about pick and roll. thats one of 2ks weakest areas. and i really like what they said about momentum and realism when it comes to moving and dribbling.
now we wait and see if its nothing but smoke or if the gameplay will back up the talk.Comment

Really like the bit about intensity in games, combined with the confidence in the announcing, pre-game, halftime and postgame. I have a feeling that Live is going to NAIL the presentation aspect, and that is going to be huge.Last edited by the_future420; 11-01-2013, 10:11 AM.Comment

These guys sounding confident for some reason.
-Left trigger for pick & rolls
-Sig dribble packages (6 special dribble moves each) for 50 players
-Post defense includes being able to "pull the chair out"
-They said they're very happy with their commentators but didn't say who they were
Some other stuff but it was a lot of we can't get into that right now.Cubs | Bulls | Dolphins | 'Noles

I don't know what to believe. They talked up pick & rolls but from the Nash/Lillard video, that was actually horrendous.
I don't believe EA has the technical staff to get basketball gameplay right.
Supposedly this is the guy who turned the FIFA franchise around. FIFA nails player movement and animation so I'll wait and see.Comment

Frankly, a lot of the things that they talked about seemed too good to be true.

But it's definitely going to be a process. As I stated in the other thread, I look at them putting out a functional game as a success. Then we can go from there and reevaluate expectations.
If this guy can turn around FIFA from a physics standpoint, then I would have faith that he can do it in Live. If there is one thing that FIFA has down, it's player movement and physics.Cubs | Bulls | Dolphins | 'Noles

I know that I personally felt a lot better about Live's current trajectory after speaking with Ryan and Scott. It's not like the 2K team has been flooding us with videos of gameplay for next-gen. If Live is a solid effort and EA releases a demo that gives skeptical people a chance to see it for themselves for free, they could be in good shape to compete with 2K on next-gen going forward.Comment

I play basketball and football (soccer). And the movement is (off course) different. Hope is translates well.Comment

Hmm the animation is what I'm worried about. Does EA use the same engine, plus animations, on all their sports games? Could be 'weird' in translating some animations between sports.

I think the issue lies in how the dev teams go from their motion capture to implementing it in the game. The mocap is natural movements. Live is herky jerky. FIFA is smooth.
Again, the Nash video had terrible movement and that's all we have to go on.Comment
