Re: NBA Live 14 Has Arrived, Post Your Impressions Here
So, I went ahead and decided to buy Live the other day. As much as I was enjoying 2K, it's just too broken and scripted right now for me to want to play MyGM. Until they get things patched up, I will be giving this game quite a bit of my time.
I had played the demo and read everyone's impressions here, so I knew what I was getting into with Live. And I must say, I'm enjoying it a little bit more each time I play. I think there's some good things here. The problem is that with every good thing, you'll see 10 bad things. I won't get into those bad things, because they've been talked about ad nauseam (and rightfully so). But, here are some of the things that I'm liking:
- ESPN presentation is great and I'm really enjoying it. The halftime show is outstanding.
- The CPU actually misses shots. That may sound stupid, but for anyone that's played 2K next gen, it's a really nice change of pace.
- I really enjoy the feel of shooting mid-range jumpers. I'm not sure why, but I loved it in Live 10 and Live 14 makes me feel the same way.
- The atmosphere is immersive.
So again, I'm not saying this game is anywhere near as good as 2K, but I'm having fun with it and am looking forward to getting some Dynasty time in this week to see how that goes. I'm really hoping that the Live team is going to try and make some improvements in the form of a patch or several patches, but I'm not holding my breath.Comment

I did the same thing: despite having 2k14 and reading all the bad stuff that was being said about the game, I found myself playing more and more of the demo until I decided to pull the trigger and bought it.
Couldn't agree more with you assessment of the game...you have to earn your good moments. It's a grind...but somehow I'm having fun with it.
I love the shooting the ball (I know, it's a pain in the proverbial ### to make a shot) and the atmosphere as well.
Well, maybe 2K14 got so good that we got spoiled, idk...the truth is I'm playing Live non-stop. Go figure...

Re: NBA Live 14 Has Arrived, Post Your Impressions Here
A few questions for those who have the full game:
1. Can I control ALL teams in season mode? Can I switch mid game to adjust coaching settings etc?
2. The demo is terrible with New York posting up Tyson Chandler for multiple 10 foot jumpers (something he never does). Has synergy fixed that?
3. In all the videos, I am yet to see the CPU run a proper fast break and attack the hoop. Does the CPU fastbreak 3 on 1, 2 on 1 etc?
4. Last question, are there any chance of sliders being patched in? No sliders seems ridiculous. I'd probably buy the game if they put them in via a patch. Seems the producers have dissapeared since the 'apology' though? Is a patch actually guaranteed? Thanks in advance.Comment

1. You only can control one team in Dynasty. But you can pause mid game to adjust your coach settings.
2. Team behavior can be very inconsistent. Sometimes it's awesome, like teams quickly doubling LBJ in the post when he's being guarded by smaller players. I've seen NY run a ton of stuff through Melo, but sometimes they will get the ball to Chandler a little too much.
3. No fastbreaks from the CPU that I can recall. But one thing that I've been able to do 2 or 3 times a game is complete some gorgeous outlet passes after collecting a rebound. That opens up some 3 x 1 action, but it's user triggered.
4. Last year they added the ability to edit players in Connected Carrers with Madden. So, let's hope they add some sliders. Also, we need to be able to edit players as well.

Re: NBA Live 14 Has Arrived, Post Your Impressions Here
Thank you very much for your answers. No fast breaks from the CPU is very dissapointing and, unfortunately, enough for me not to buy the game. I guess this means EVERY CPU team just walks it up, point guard to the top of the key and calls a play? That would get boring very, very fast. The modern NBA is a fast break / track meet style league. No CPU fast breaks basically means the game is not remotely realistic.Comment

I saw 2-3 fast breaks last game. All 3 off of steals, and a 3-1 fast break off of a rebound. All against Golden State.
They weren't as "pretty" as I'd have liked to see executed, but they were there.Twitter - WTF_OS
