i saw this for the first time over the weekend. same scenario: i was down by one or two points and the cpu dribbled out the shot clock leaving about 3 seconds on the game clock instead of at least trying a shot. hopefully that gets fixed quick. luckily ive only had it happen the one time but still an issue.

I've had it happen twice in the last 4 games I've played. I find myself trying not to have a 3 point lead with less than a min left. They really need to find out what's causing this.Moderator

I have had a couple games go to OT (another 5 minute period...I hate that), I have not had the late-game issue in those situations. The CPU always shot like they should. I don't want to say UT simply doesn't have that issue, but I haven't experienced it in the mode.NBA 2K11 Community Site Mix

Well, you'd be only wasting 20 or 24 minutes. Games are locked 5 minutes (previously 6 minutes before that "reset" or whatever that was).

Good to hear...maybe Ill do this for the time being..
Yeah, unfortunately it's not limited to that one scenario either as I posted above...sucks!Comment

Re: NBA Live 14 Has Arrived, Post Your Impressions Here
But I see the CPU dribble out the end of quarters and dribble through the end of the shot clock all the time in Ultimate Team.
I would say it happens at least two to three times per game where they just stand still dribbling until the clock expires.Comment

gotta say the more and more I play LIVE the more I like it time, the game does really scream simulation, beyond the looks which aren't bad by any stretch, the game plays like basketball. And what ever they did with the last roster update the game plays better not seeing a lot of the herky jerky movement as I was before. I love the fact that you can truly play 12 minuets quarters and get real to life scores. Love all the ESPN cams to, in a nut shell LIVE is a good game.N.Y Mets

Re: NBA Live 14 Has Arrived, Post Your Impressions Here
After playing a number of games I will say that I like playing offense, but hate defense. I'm terrible at it. I can't stay with my man to save my life. The game needs a mechanic where you can press a button and get some help sticking with your defender. The cpu blows by me for an easy basket almost every time.
I am also noticing the very high number of paint attempts by the cpu. Not seeing a lot of mid-range jump shots. The cpu seems smart at times and dumb at times. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Almost adds a virtual human element.
I will post more detailed impression later, but the thing that's making me not want to play this game is defense. I'll keep working at it though.
I also just thought of one thing I really like. Like past Live games, the spacing is fantastic. No other game comes close.Last edited by PVarck31; 01-13-2014, 01:48 PM.Comment

Re: NBA Live 14 Has Arrived, Post Your Impressions Here
im pretty much the same way with defense. but ive seen other people having success to to me it just means i have to learn the system better. i am definitely getting better but im still giving up the majority in the paint. i saw a thread in the 2k forums about trying to focus on improving a single aspect of the game every time you play (less fouls one game less turnovers the next etc.) so im going to start taking that approach and see if i can get better at defending the paint.
My problem was every time I defend in the paint the I had a habit of jumping all the time and not keeping my feet on the floor, now I do my defense is much better .

Re: NBA Live 14 Has Arrived, Post Your Impressions Here
Got the game last Friday and all I played was Live (Xbox). Played about 8 games and a lot of the big moments stuff. The things that stood out are what has already been pointed out. I played on different difficulties as well.
PIP - 75-80% of the cpu's points were in the paint. I would look at the shot chart afterwards and it was crazy how many baskets were concentrated right at the rim with hardly any mid range shots. Vast majority of the time each team would work the ball to the block and it would be spin move over and over. Even with double teams brought immediately. Sometimes it could be defended by pushing into the player but a lot of the times the defender would be pushed out of the way to give just enough space to get to the other side of the rim.
Jumpshots - timing the release is hard. I shot probably around 30% on my jump shots. I tried quick taps to holding it in long, but nothing seemed to help. It's much quicker than 2k I figured that out. I would make some jumpers by just tapping and also holding it a little longer. I kind of like that there is no visual cue, but need a practice mode for sure. But I also don't want my fg% to be unrealistic either.
Defense - it is tough to stay on your man, but I got better the more I played. Still give up too many uncontested drives to the hoop though. Does anyone use the right stick slides? Are those designed for more perimeter D, inside D or both?
I enjoyed playing it but the PIP issue started to wear thin just because it seemed every team went to the block the majority of the time instead of running some sets for shooters coming off screens, etc.
I also saw plenty of where the AI would just stand there and dribble out the shot clock. And sometimes it would happen if I trapped the post player on the baseline with a double team. Would just stand there without trying to pass it out. They need to figure out what is triggering that to happen.
Again, I still had fun playing and will continue playing and working on learning the controls. Hopefully the upcoming updates can fix some of these issues.Comment

Re: NBA Live 14 Has Arrived, Post Your Impressions Here
It's the way the CPU gets its PIP that irks me.
Also, how slow to react your players are when there is a loose ball, particularly one that was previously in your possession.

Re: NBA Live 14 Has Arrived, Post Your Impressions Here
I've always felt that the live games, partcularly 10 and now 14, just have a basketball feel to them. I think it's to do with the spacing as has been mentioned here now. For me Basketball is all about a certain pace and spacing and this game replicates that superbly.
I also enjoy the fact that right out of the box this game plays nicely, I know sliders might fix some problems but it sure is nice not to have to think abou them and have the game play well straight way.
I played my first 12min quarter game earlier (usually i prefer a shortened appraoch to my sports titles). On rookie with the tight D settings from Tomba I had a blast it has a perfectly realistic feel even on it's easiest setting (surprising as I find most EA games are weak on the "easy setting and the CPU just gets superhuman as you go up the difficulties, instead of getting more intelligent). In this gameeven on rookie I had a really fun game where I jumped out to a lead the each team had a run, the CPU eventually tied it up but I pulled away down the stetch and won the game 97-88 (another thing the game does well, generally you get realistic stats and a realistic score)
A fun realistic game straight out of the box. In 2014 sadly that is a rare thing I find. As I have said before the game has problems but it really only needs tweaking in places, and then they have a wonderfull foundation to build on.Comment

I'm finding that around 65-70% of the PiP are coming off of drives against me now. It's not the big man spinning anymore, moreso of trying to stop the athletic guards. And it's not being cheesy dunking in traffic, but they're hitting floaters, etc.Twitter - WTF_OS

Re: NBA Live 14 Has Arrived, Post Your Impressions Here
yea im not getting beat as much by the post game but more from drives. onball defense is very tough in this game. deron williams burned me for 49 and most came from the paint. what i liked though was that he was also 5-6 from three point range. he would take the jumpers if he was open.Comment
