Questions (complaints??) about the game.

So i'm having a hard time just learning the basics about this game.

First of all is the entire playcalling system, it's really confusing to me.

You hold L1 on PS4 and either hit Left,Up, or Right on the D-pad to open up plays. But how do I call a specific play for a specific player? I don't get it. I think UP is post up.. post up for WHO? I think Left is "iso".. iso for WHO?

Also how do I call 3 point or mid range plays? There's Iso, Post up or pick and roll.. uh what if I want to call a 3 point play for a shooter?


Second thing (this is more of a complaint) is the "2k cam" substitution this game has. I think I'm running with Baseline High, do EA employees read this? There's some glitches. Firstly there seems to be major framerate drops while using this camera for whatever reason. Secondly when the camera swings around depending on whoever is controlling the ball it is really buggy and sometimes gets lost lol.. it's hard to do fast break with it. Also this is more of a personal preference thing but it's really really far zoomed out it would be nice to have an option to zoom the camera in a bit

You tried to dunk from the freethrow line? There was 2 defenders under the rim though.

L1 + up is motion/screen type play(this will get mid/3pt shots)
L1+right is post up/mid range plays
L1+left is iso plays.

Read the plays, normally they have numbers in the play type.

X
Triangle
R1
L1

If it says 2-4 screen. Most likely involves your SG and PF.

Until they fix the camera just use espn/easports camera. Game was obviously built for those 2. I was a 2k cam only type player and have since adjusted to the broadcast type cams. Just continue to play and youll get better.

You tried to dunk from the freethrow line? There was 2 defenders under the rim though.

May want to step a few more steps inside of the foul line. There are plenty of dunks in traffic. You just have to be "in the takeoff zone". The free throw line isn't the takeoff zone, even for Lebron.

Double tap the d-pad (without L1) then select a player to do that action. So double tap up (if it is post up, i forget) then choose your center/pg/whoever and they will post up, or cut/screen/setup for an iso.

No good way I know of to run plays for a specific player or shottype. I run more with combinations of those 4 basic plays and choosing what players I want where. So for a 3 for Stephen Curry, I run the iso thing for him (double tap, choose him), so he runs out to the 3pt line, get him the ball, then use L2 to run a PnR to get him open.

don't press shoot at the free throw line. Get closer before initiating the dunk.

Double Tap the Left, Up, Right or Down on the D-Pad, and you'll see an icon come above each of your players heads. That's the easiest way to call individual plays. So if you want a post up for Dwight, double tap Up, and then Press L1 (Icon above Dwights head). He will get into the post, the other players will clear out for an easier pass

You need to find a play in your playbook that will allow you to find the right guys for these plays. The playbook is easy to read, and even easier to use in my opinon. Study the playbook, and call the play accordingly.

EA Employees are reading this, no worries. The 2k style cameras have been confirmed by many to have framerate issues. I'm hoping that they're working on customize-able cameras.

My biggest complaint...

The rosters and accessories are out of date. I know i have probably said this 1000 times already on OS but isn't it suppose to be daily updates? how is Rudy Gay still wearing number 22????

The updates aren't near perfect by far, but they've gotten most of them updated.

I honestly believe accessories are from Live 10. Players like Mo Williams and Jamal Crawford still wearing things from years ago.

The updates aren't near perfect by far, but they've gotten most of them updated.

I swear to GOD the updates are different PS4 Vs XBOX1.. WTF i know your a ps4 player. I'll double check again on my xbox1 tonight. While your there though can you check the clippers numbers for me (Jamison is 7 on mine and should be 33. Jackson is 3 and should be 1)

Jamison and Jackson are both still wrong on PS4. Just checked. For some reason, I do believe the PS4 is "ahead" of the One for updates.

11,020 records updated in my roster data daily and EA sports can't update the numbers on jerseys?? i know its a stupid gripe but it makes it worse when i can't update it myself

Nah, not a stupid gripe. It gets to me too. It killed me playing with the Kings with two #7's, Williams & Landry, and there was another duplicate as well, Possibly Gay and someone. Drove me nuts. Now that's fixed, they just need to get on the others.
