Like pared said, FIFA is a good example. Also Madden. Madden might have the best graphics of the three, but none of them are really taking advantage of the new hardware. But, and I know a lot of people don't want to hear this -- this is the first set of games on a new system. Graphics always improve as the generation moves forward. So honestly I'm not worried about that.

Sorry to go off topic but I think Fifa edges out Madden. Maybe because I haven't played current gen Fifa.

I think a big part of it is not having a Live 12-14 on current gen...would've helped with expectations...

the transition from NBA 2K6, Madden 06 and Live 06 from Xbox/Ps2 to the 360/PS3 just made sense...

(Even though Live 07 dropped the ball that next year)

I honestly am looking forward to Live '15...I think it will shock some people...

They are making some updates to the graphics as we go along. I think it's looking better right now than it ever has. Jao mentioned player self shadowing, which I went in and just confirmed it's there. The lighting is being altered, some player textures are looking much better. Overall, I'm "positively" looking forward to Live 14. Live 14 shocked us all in a bad way initially. I don't think that'll be the case with Live 15.

Personally I think those look pretty phenomenal. The shadowing/shading/lighting make a huge difference.

The first image looks plastic and fake. Not what I would call good.

Their textures (is it supposed to be sweat? Bad lighting?) do not look good to me. It's like a cartoonish take on reality.

Some of the player faces seem well done though. But it was always like that - hit or miss.

I think they look really well done. I don't see the plastic/fake. It's a little different art style, but I like it personally. NBA 09 and whatnot looked plastic and fake to me. Just a difference of opinion.

Guys Like Wade, Deron, etc I think are nailed, hell, even Archie Goodwin and the Morris'. Lebron, Antentekoumpo, etc, not exactly there.

Regardless, I know that they will have learned from the backlash early on about the graphics, so I'm expecting nothing less than stellar for Live 15. I hope... lol.

No. Just no. Maybe compared to Madden or something which also looks like garbage.

Your screenshots are average at best compared to other games and when the game is in motion it's a complete mess. Players slide around, there's no emotion, animations are awkward.. a lot of the animations don't even look like they belong in a basketball game.

Really? Phenomenal? Really? Especially if you are like me and played 2k on PC for the past 4 years.

The problem with the graphics is it also affects the gameplay. There doesn't seem to be a functioning physics system.. when a guy goes up for a layup and I try to contest it I just magically slide out of the way in mid air and he continues his layup animation unimpeded.

Though I agree in regards the physics of the game....doesn't really have anything to do with graphics...

I guess I just have a different opinion on what the term "graphics" mean. To me it's the entire presentation package not just how it looks on screenshots.

Honestly, 14 is kind of like the difference between Saints Row 2 and Saints Row The Third. Saints The Third looks good as a video game, I can't really complain about it graphics wise because it's clean, it's done well, there is detail there. However it's a completely off the wall, cartoonish take on reality and I prefer the look of 2 as opposed to the direction 3 and 4 took with their look.
