NBA Live 15: Behind the Scenes of the Face Scanning Process

EA released a new NBA Live 15 video today showing off the behind the scenes process of how they are using the face scan technology to create more accurate likenesses this year. An interesting tidbit is that EA is using the technology to scan other items such as jerseys as well into the game.

So far, as the screenshot released earlier today showed, the results are far ahead of what EA did with NBA Live 14.

Of course, the question will be how it all plays on the court. Stay tuned for details on that!

Considering what has happened with 2k with all the glitches and all. Live 15 is number 1 for me this year although it is ea sports I'll take it over 2k this year SO FAR

Maybe the light bulbs really went off and they figured out they could scan...BODIES!?

I just really hope the player models improve this year. Would hate to see all that detail go into the facial design to be on top of the same bodies.

If I was to guess. I don't think today's screen has anything else new other than player faces. It's probably last years jerseys/bodies with new faces.

To me the faces look incredible, but those jerseys need some work.... But if I had to guess, I would say that the jerseys aren't finished yet.

Looks visually a large leap better than last years game. And the part that intrigued me the most was the life in the eyes they look so alive. Scanning the jersey like a few previous posters said is also cool to get them as aesthetically close to real life as possible

Watching this video on YouTube on the ps4 and a smartphone is a massive difference! I was impressed by the the screens but they are drop dead gorgeous on the ps4!

Interesting, but regardless of the media viewed on I have never reacted differently for any video game I've ever seen whether that be MLB the Show, Gran Turismo, or any other graphic intensive video game. Youtube, low grade transfer, or high definition transfer, 60 fps or 30 fps, it really didn't matter.

It always looked the same wherever I watched. Sure it may be sharper and cleaner, but my reaction always remained the same. It's kind of like a Blu Ray vs DVD quality, sure the Blu Ray offers better picture, but the 'story' remains the same.

Man I'm completely opposite. Graphics look good in YouTube but when I get the game on my ps4 I'm blown away even more .

Looks better, but still kind of has that cartoon plastic look to me.
