If you could name ONE Gameplay element that you want to see...

Like the thread title mentions, if you could name ONE Gameplay Element that would take the game to the next level for you, what would it be?

This is not a "feature" want or need... but moreso of a gameplay tweak or addition that you feel is sorely needed. Perhaps it's a control tweak, or an adjustment that's needed in the movement.

We all know that the lack of post defense or "counters" to moves last year were detriments to the overall result.

For me, I mentioned in another thread, it comes down to off ball movement. The speed in which guys move during a sprint need to be made quicker. With the spacing that Live offers, speed could be a crucial element to feeling like you're on your own against Lebron in an ISO, or that the lack of speed will allow you to stick with him.

I feel like that would be a HUGE gameplay enhancement that would help tremendously.

Going back to the Live 06 trailer, you see quick off ball movement during the play. The running off of the screen is quick and precise. That is sorely missed in all NBA titles.

With that said, what do you all have in mind?

I would agree. If I could pick one thing, It would be an authentic representation of player athleticism. The speed, the agility, the explosiveness. All of that needs to be more accurately portrayed and applied in situations correctly. To me the movement was at least more responsive in Live, but it still can be improved greatly by improving this aspect.

As you said, with the fantastic spacing Live possesses, this would really put it over the top in regards to player movement.

Emotion. I want emotion in the game. Stands to go crazy on big buckets, players getting heated if they are not performing up to par. You get the idea.

The ability to switch speeds like real NBA (basketball) players, and stop on a dime!! They would have to master the momentum in the game for it to work

This is basically what I'm saying, just in easier to understand terms, haha. I agree. I think it goes back to the fun factor of Live 2003/04/05 with the quickness of the moves. That type of explosion has been sorely missing.

Emotion could play a big factor in the game. Seeing Lebron go into "pissed off mode" where you know he's going to try to take over the game could be awesome. Likewise, the atmosphere in the stands help add to the overall immersion on the court.

I don't think they need to master the momentum factor, but present it to where it's at least pretty realistic. Guys nowadays are extremely athletic, and can change directions and stop on a dime. I agree with this wholeheartedly, and believe that it's been missing. I think the lack of "speed" makes the entire game feel slow as molasses.

There is another side of the coin which is what the devs are probably afraid of, but it could contribute to an up and down cheese fest online and user vs user games. In my mind though, you can counter this with a more intuitive fatigue system. I think the fatigue system could be reliant upon not only the time you're on the court, but what all you're doing while out there. If you're constantly battling for rebounds, filling the lanes on breaks, setting screens or RUNNING off of screens etc... those types of activities really should eat into your stamina. Likewise, battling for rebounds, double jumping for rebounds, those things should eat into your stamina even further.

I agree, I'd love to see an Inside Drive 2003/04 system where the injury shows both in performance, as well as in appearance. Spraining an ankle, the guy is hobbling up the floor, even sprinting will make you go half as fast as a regular player jogging. Adding in game injuries to the fact of what I'm wanting (speed/quickness) could add an extra element.

If you're injured, but keeping your star player in the game, and I have an explosive driver.... you better bet I'd be going to him over and over. Running off of screens, constantly moving, to make the injured player try to keep up. It would make a huge difference in strategy.

            Keep them coming fellas.

              Defense.

The ability to reach for steals on command. I know this delay is a band aid to stop things from getting too wacky as far as deflections, but that goes back to making passes quicker and more accurate....

I like analog swiping for steals and tipping balls. I just think this game can do a lot more with the right stick on defense . I really don't like drawing charges with it though

I actually like the set up they have now, it just needs to be more responsive...I really like the idea of having that "jump the passing lane" option on RS though...

Dont understand why starters are still in when there's a blow out. if you manually sub them out the cpu will automatically put them back in

For me, I think that's the real time physics ! Every sport games such as FIFA, NHL, madden all have physics! It would make game feel more realistic and unpredictable!
Actually, I really like the idea in elite 11! Physics drives animations!

Last gen, I think they just don't know how to implement in game properly! Now, with new console and new engine I think it could be successful in next gen!

If they can do it, I think it will compete to 2k!

I think most can agree that the response of player movement with regards to real life athletic reactions is the main gameplay element that needs to be improved. I don't think that the actual playback speed of most of the animations are slow or unnatural, just that they don't kick in fast enough. The acceleration of players is quite slow, almost casual looking, as is the animations of players changing direction. That is why players end up catching passes out of bounds, making awkward reaching animations at bad angles, having , etc.

24th, I know what you are saying about the steal button. Especially later in a game when a player is "fatigued" and the button doesn't seem to work. If they get the response down on both sides of the floor, a missed steal gambling in the passing lane becomes an opportunity that can be capitalized on.

I honestly remember Live 10 basically having everything everyone is referring to. I felt like the players had just the right amount of momentum and agility to their actions and movements. There also was better momentum especially for jumpshots as you had momentum shots as long as you were running that direction instead of the wonky stop and go straight up shots.
But I agree with everyone here, that to me feels to be the main thing taking away from the game, the speed at which everything happens. These are the best and most explosive athletes in the world and they have to move as such. I should be able to not only perform but feel the difference between using LeBron and someone like Paul Pierce.

                              I didn't get Live 14 because I didn't feel like buying a PS4 yet

but from watching videos of Live 14 I feel like rebounding can be improved there should be more fight for rebounds especially in clutch situations

the players reactions can be quicker when going for the Rebound

This is pretty much what everyone else was saying but I think the Game Speed should be hardcoded at 50 and the Players , coaching schemes , and momentum should dictate the pace and flow of the game
