Re: Should NBA Live Pull a 2K5
The idea that the NBA somehow wouldn't allow it is simply illogical. If they were somehow in control and wouldn't allow a reduction in price, then by that same reasoning, they would have forced EA to release Live those years they skipped. I don't know what the NBA's agreement is, but even 1% of $20 is more than 100% of $0, which is what they made those years. So I'm pretty sure if EA wanted to discount the price, they couldComment

Re: Should NBA Live Pull a 2K5
This doesn't make sense, EA is taking the risk not the NFL. Its like retail stores, they buy the product from the vendor, the vendor gets paid up front and its up to the retail stores to set the price they think the can sell it at, the retail stores take all the risk.Comment

Re: Should NBA Live Pull a 2K5
lets be honest if you saw live next to 2k and both for 60 bucks normal people would go with the better buy or which game has the best value to it. I dont know what game modes are in live but if I recall its not going to have a lot. and if you compare that to what 2k is bringing out with MyLeague and MyGm and new features they have going for them any more stuff is still coming. Which game would be the better buy for 60 bucks? I wouldn't tell someone how to spend their money but for me I value my dollar and the money im going to spend and when I spend my money I want a game that is to its best ability.#FreeMikeGSW

Re: Should NBA Live Pull a 2K5
49.99 is more realistic to me and more appealing to many consumers who just want a b'ball game. You'd be surprised what 10 bucks can do. But no need to go to 19.99. That's just desperation. If the game is good, they can do it for higher.Comment

Re: Should NBA Live Pull a 2K5
We lost NFL2k because EA saw how much better of a game it was for a cheaper price so they bought exclusive rights. anyways

NFL 2k5 actually caused this change across the industry. The NFL lost out because it had two games worth $60 selling for 1/3 that amount and was furious about that. It lessened their percentage and hurt the NFL brand that their games were on sale for $20 while other sports games were $60.Comment

Re: Should NBA Live Pull a 2K5
I just wonder if a demo for Live will drop this year or not. On one hand, if they TRULY made a great game this year, then dropping a demo can only help them. If its a polished turd of last year then dropping a demo would not be a smart business move. At this point with their track record, dropping a demo is a dice roll. It's definitely risky.
As far as people saying this years game is going to be awesome and we should "trust them" well maybe you've played it or have some inside track with EA sports that we don't have but at the end of the day, Live's credibility is so bad that I don't think other people's "pre" opinions of the game are going to matter much, and to be honest, what might be the most awesomest basketball game to you might not be to the next person. Demo it, borrow it from a friend, Gamefly it. The game might just be everything I've been wanting in a basketball game. Believe it or not 2k is NOT that, BUT 2k has been good enough for ME at least to warrant the purchase without me feeling like I'm taking a huge risk.
Fortunately Madden is good enough to hold my attention for a while this year and with Destiny dropping next week... I might be able to hold off on both basketball games until I absolutely need make a purchasing decision.__________________________________________________ ____

Re: Should NBA Live Pull a 2K5
If they dropped this game at $30 I would buy it no questions asked. At $60, I'm going to have to give reveiews and impressions a HARD look and then I might buy it. They probably won't sell it at a reduced rate, but I've got to imagine that there are a ton of gamers that feel like me. Perhaps the total revenue would be closer than people think, not to mention the obviously larger user base that they could grabComment
