I never liked that difficulty changes shot success. I believe difficulty levels should only affect the CPU AI, but that's another discussion entirely.
No one is saying they shouldn't strive to get the most realistic playing game out of the box. But let's say player A is a basketball guru, and is getting realistic stats because they know the ins and outs of the game. But player B isn't as familiar with basketball, but enjoys playing the game anyway. Sliders can help player B to get realistic stats, while not playing with as much intelligence and basketball IQ as player A.
It all comes down to options. If the game is amazing out of the box, then that's fantastic. But if someone doesn't feel that an aspect is not right, the option to adjust it should be there.Comment

Re: NBA Live 15 Twitter Chat with Executive Producer Sean O'Brien, No Sliders Confirm
Bottom line I won't skip a title because it does or doesn't have sliders. Just see them as a luxury not a must and I think they allow designers the option to not finely tune or correct fundamental flaws in the game because they know it can be "mostly" be managed with sliders.
We can all agree to disagree.
You're right that there are some numbers that can measure 'simability'. But here is the thing. I don't like bringing the other game here, but this is just an example of why it doesn't always work. 2K8, out of the box, had some issue(?) with too many missed layups, that seemed to many here something that had to be tweaked.
However, I also remember some people saying they had no issue and that they made enough layups and saw real-life numbers/stats (according to them). So, who was right? Answer: They well all right. Even when it was about numbers. My Specs:

I'm more disappointed with the way the questions were phrase more than anything else. Did people forget that open ended questions are more valuable than closed ended (yes/no) questions. Could have possibly gotten answers with substance (possibly) if open ended questions were asked.
Example of a better question: Why or why won't there be sliders this year?Comment

Soooooooooooo,
Madden doesn't have custom draft classes.
NHL 15 has no player editor and missing a ton of features.
Live 15 doesn't have sliders?
WTF HAPPENED?

Well remember how it was touted last year that all of the their next-gen games would be powered by the Ignite engine? Seems like it has some problems with customization, and each game has to do their own things to mitigate itComment

Not having the ability to edit player is a much more bigger problem than not having sliders IMO.You looking at the Chair MAN!

I understand a lot of people are upset when some feature is gone (in principle, rightfully so), but there's significant number of us, online gamers, thinking sliders are totally overrated, especially in 2K NBA series. Sliders for many users are only way to try to fix something that bothers you with the gameplay, so if the game is SIM with realistic stats this should ok. I tried fixing through sliders the issue with the AI offensive rebounding in NBA 2K14 with zero effect whatsoever. 2K has it but I don't find any good use of it. Difficulty levels for SIM game should be just fine for many gamers.Comment

Re: NBA Live 15 Twitter Chat with Executive Producer Sean O'Brien, No Sliders Confirm
Again I guess my expectation are much higher for this generation. Because I just think things like physics, league wide stats, player attributes, and having synergy should be enough to have the digital players putting up numbers as close to their real life counter parts as possible. That in itself should be enough to render sliders useless. Again if we had all of those things(and we do) and they work properly I can't see one reason why we need sliders and I haven't been convinced why it shouldn't be enough. You looking at the Chair MAN!
