Nah, you have to let the player set before you shoot mid-range, or it will be off, like half a second, even when shooting threes, you have to look at the player's body to see if he's squared

I do this in practice already because on Live 14....you had wait like like a second and a half to set or Breen would yell "OFF BALANCE SHOT" and you had no chance of making it, lol

It's a lot more forgiving this year....just wish the midrange game was more forgiving when your getting off green releases..

That's basically how I feel with this new patch. Sure I could score a lot if I just did pick and rolls and shot layups...but no NBA team plays like that. But not being able to hit any mid range or threes on rookie or pro is seriously broken.

Any thoughts on a fix?

Agreed! I can go on and on about this but will refrain at this time. You sound like someone who could benefit from some adjustments to tailor the game to your style of play. Post some feedback for everyone when you can if you choose to try them.


×××××× I have now added a second option in order to better cater to the masses! FYI, only apply these settings to 2 teams of your choice and test for results before applying to all teams. The changes must be made from the intro screen. Team management> Coach Options> Defense.


OPTION 1: This option allows for a more free flowing game where shots are easier to achieve for both user and cpu but with respectable all around defense. Post defense is ok.

On Ball Pressure> Auto, Off Ball Pressure> Normal.

OPTION 2: This option is more open compared to default settings but tighter than option 1. Post defense is good. There is still a reasonable balance to the game with these settings.

On Ball Pressure> Normal, Off Ball Pressure> Auto

You should set Force Direction> Normal and In Post> Behind. You should also set the Tempo option within the Offense section of the Coach Options to "Push" for a good challenge from the cpu.

I tried adjusting all those settings but I still can't come down the court and shoot a jump shot with Monta Ellis. I'll go 0 for 10. This is on Pro.

That's very strange. Please focus on OPTION 1 in particular, these settings should give you the flexibility in this regard. I will play with Monta to see if I get the same results.

One thing I like about the patch, the crowd seems more engaged, maybe cause there's a lot of missed shots and the scores seem closer, but the overall effect the crowd has on the game is better

So I tried switching up some settings and found that if you move On Ball Pressure to loose it helps with being able to hit jump shots and threes. Basically you get a lot more "Open" shots and "Guarded" shots....rather than every shot be "Contested".

I don't believe you are able to hit any shots that are considered "Contested" at least not enough to stay competitive/close in the game.

They need to raise mid range percentages. Another thing I noticed is that If your are wide open but take an off the dribble shot it goes from open to the yellow one. Which really sucks because most scorers have great midrange pull-up games and that is almost non existent. I would like to see the percentages of a yellow(guarded) shot raised, leave the contested(red) percentages as they are an slightly raise open(green) percentages

I have tried using the Loose setting in the past pre patch while experimenting. Glad this is working for you. My fear this time around is I didn't want to compromise post defense/overall defense too much when using that setting. Seemed to be the case to a certain degree pre patch, but may be better now that these areas have been beefed up! Help defense is finally more present and effective post patch!

At the end of the day, these steps are stop gaps ( or maybe not?) until they can truly address the mid range and slightly 3 pt range especially for the CPU. I want to work hard to stop the CPU and keep fg% low, that is the payoff for me. If I fall asleep and fail to apply proper defense there should be consequences. I find it far too easy to contain the CPU with default settings and have no fear of any superstar or all star player going off in the game.

This is all for Xbox? I can say for certainty they tuned the shooting a few daysafter tTue last patch for ps4. Couldn't hit the ocean after the patch but I started making them on a consistent basis about 4 days later

Can you turn shot indicators off? I might prefer the old days of no indicator. Then I wouldn't know if a green shot missed.

I would turn mine off but the release points don't match the animation for all players...even though it's improved A LOT post patch
