I went to a game stop today for lols, are they trying to derail live?

Me and my boys went to a liberty game and at the end if it walked around and what not, we saw that the 34th st gamestop was dead and went inside.

The x1 station had a demo for nba live, and me and my boy were like "sweet " and decided to go play, we both played and loved 15. We get to the machine and we see its LIVE 14. Yes 14. on August 2nd 2015, the game stop on 34th street in Manhattan had a demo of live 14 on. Am I the only person who sees this as a red flag?

So as we playing it, my boy dips out and says I can't, as much as we praised the game when it came out, we both hated the game play , and sold our copies. I dip out after the 2nd game, and thru out these games people look at us, and pretty do the "What are/is that/those" thing and laugh at the game calling it trash. People were calling it a joke for sure after Kendrick perkins hit 2 3s.

So now I'm here wondering if gamestop is really trying to destroy live for no reason. This is the only time I seen a demo for live set up, and whenever I mention live to a employee, it's followed by them laughing at me, and praising the other game

GameStop trying to destroy live ? There not the ones who made that game that's EA fault for producing a terrible product hell you even said they had live 15 out there to play so why blame them for showing EA's games ?

Reread the post, they had live 14. Not 15.

          I'm confused.

Was it an actual booth promoting Live, or simply an XB1 with the Live '14 demo on it?

If it's the former, I can see why that wouldn't make sense. If it's the latter, its nothing that deep. The PS4 at my Gamestop still has Live 14 on it, as well as Knack and the other initial system demos. My Gamestop actually has Live '16 promotional artwork up..

Nobody trying to derail Live, store managers, majority of them AREN"T GAMERS so they really don't have a clue what demos are on their machines and they can careless. Only thing they pay attention to is the promotional art work is up to date on the windows.

I went in my GameStop and asked to reserve it. As the guy is pulling up my account he's like "are you sure? Have you ever played nba live? You sure you don't wanna get 2k?

I guess if I was a clueless parent sent to pre order a game for my son I could've got the titles mixed up but I feel like he isn't in there to question my pre order

I wouldn't say they are trying to derail the Live series, but I have noticed that when I make a purchase around this time of the year they ask if I want to reserve games like NBA2k, Madden COD, but never have I heard do I want to reserve the new NBA Live game, guess its a popularity thing.

Is this thread for real? You really think there some grand credo coming from the Gamestop corporate offices to sink NBA Live? Really? Really? Let's just say that's exactly what's happening (which it isn't), you realize how pissed at Gamestop EA would be? I think people in this forum tend to forgot that EA is a lot more than just EA Sports. Ticking off EA is never a fight you really want.

I don't think Gamestop has an agenda against EA or their games. It's just that the majority usually wins when it comes to preference. More gamers play COD and NBA 2K than NBA Live and Battlefield. It's ironic, since the latter are EA games, but they aren't as popular as their counterpart.

I kid you not, I went to Gamestop yesterday and pre ordered 3 games. I told the guy at the counter I wanted to put a certain amount on each game. I told him the first game was Nobunaga's Ambition: Sphere of Influence (PS4). He said that was a good game and received great reviews overseas. Next, I told him, "I want to reserve NBA Live 16." He immediately asked me, "Why?!" and said, "NBA 2K is better and you should buy the Jordan Edition. Actually, It's the only Edition you should buy." I told him, "I don't want the Jordan Edition. I'm sick of Jordan being shoved down my throat. I live in Chicago for Christ sakes." We both chuckled, but he insisted that 2K was better. We finally get to the 3rd game and I told him I was already getting NBA 2K. He told me, "You should only be buying one NBA video game." I replied, "I support competition and the NBA Live Series has been getting better each year now. It's not the best NBA sports game and we both know that, but they have shown improvements. We can go on forever about what is better, but I don't care about that. I just like basketball in general. Plus, you are getting my money, right?" He was quiet for the remainder of my visit and transaction.

First its 2k crutch post, now its gamestop crutch post. the excuses are laughable, along with this thread.

I've had Gamestop employees that I know (used to work at a mall) that don't play sports games try to convince me that getting Live over 2K was a bad decision. There's no corporate sabotage lol its just a testament to how well received the other series is. What I will say, is that I don't think its a great business practice. There's no reason an employee should criticize my choice or try to sway me if I'm guaranteeing them a sale.

I don't think that's a bad business practice at all. This is like if you went to Best Buy and were going to buy a ****ty TV that's going to blow up in your living room after it's left on for more than an hour but the employee tells you not to buy it and tries to get you to buy the better quality TV that's the same price and you start calling out Best Buy for bad business.

The idea behind Gamestop is that it's a place for gamers, guys that like playing games work there and they can give their opinions on what's a good game and what's a ****ty game. Doesn't mean they're opinions are right or wrong. Gamestop has plenty of **** wrong with it to bag on them for, going after them for some sort of bias against NBA Live because an employee working in the store is in their mind trying to help you not waste your money on a bad game is ridiculous even for NBA Live forum standards.
