My scan finally came through, had to go outside to get it done. And yes, that is my real beard, it scanned it properly. :-)

I wonder if it depends on the quality of the front facing camera. With my Nexus 4 I've gone outside every 15 minutes for the last 2 hours and it just keeps saying insufficient lighting...

You can add a beard on top of the scan. The scan is a 2 dimensional texture on your face. To get a nice looking beard, you add one using in game parts.

Should you really shave before you scan? I have a lot of facial hair right now. It's not proportionate tho has holes in it aha but I'm not ready to get rid of my half baked facial hair just yet.

The feature seems pretty neat but I wonder why you can't pick from an assortment of head shapes. Maybe because it's the first year for the feature?
