Re: Sliders & Effect on Game Play
Waiting for Tomba's sliders to setup my own lil conference finals & NBA finals matchups. I'm going to try to track stats as well. Might be a bit much but I'm just trying to get the most out of the demo, usually we only get two teams to play with.

Re: Sliders & Effect on Game Play
Aight fellas 1st off when creating sliders we have to go back and study the trends for FG%
Now I like to use 3 year averages to start working on a base set of sliders
FG% overall in the league for the past 3 years
.453 (2013)
.454 (2014)
.449 (2015)
League average .452 over the last 3 years (Roughly 45% on average)
3-PT FG%
.359 (2013)
.360 (2014
.350 (2015)
League average .356 over the last 3 years (Roughly 35% on average)
Based on those numbers I think the shooting sliders should look something similar to this (wish we had increments of 1 or either 5 instead of 10) to match NBA league averges
Short-30 (Inside contested shots are most difficult)
Med-70 (This shot is rarely taken by the CPU so it can be higher)
3-PT-40 (In a perfect world we should set this to 35 or 36 which is why I mentioned not having 1 or 5 increments should have been a option)
The settings averages out to 46.6% close to 45.2% league average.....
30-70-30
Also I play with Ratings only shooting and will get more into that later....NCAA FOOTBALL 14 ALUMNI LEGENDS CPU vs CPU DYNASTY THREAD

Re: Sliders & Effect on Game Play
The game at it's present state is full of YMCA animations by the players...
Also the game lacks physical contact or the apperance of players having any weight on the floor.
But after a few games of tweaking sliders just trying to get a feel and figure things out for the retail version i noticed you can tone down those goofy animations moments and also make the game more physical via the Sliders.
As Skillz pointed out you are going to want to increase the Frequency Sliders and all contact sliders....
In fact based on the demo I'd max most of those bad boys outs because it's going to unlock some things that you won't see playing on the default settings out of the BOX.
Post Defense gives a better resistance to the players
Also, some of the offensive frequency for Dunks and Layups being lowered tend to calm down the animations as he mentioned guys are taking off from damn near the 3-PT line to try and attempt dunks and layups that lead to old ROCKET BLAST OFF animations
Now my initial intentions were to jack up the Dunk Sliders because in years past I felt Big's like Blake and Deandra attacked the bakset to SOFT and would shoot up some B.S. Hookshot when they should have gone for a monster dunk inside
But it appears EA did something with the Players Dunk vs Layup Ratings
I still didn't see a alley oop yet by the CPU but I have noticed even on Pro Level Chris Paul now has the vision to recognize open players and set them up for easy buckets once breaks down your Defense.
That is a major upgrade from years past IMO.....
I have yet to dig into the coaching Sliders but i believe if we can manually set the playbooks on our own for all teams this feature will make the sure the CPU is constantly attacking with their best weapons and 6th man off the bench.
One other thing i noticed and i might be the only person to play with this camera because gameplay is more important to me than GRAPHICS but it appears if you zoom out further from the action using the High Sideline Came I believe the players tend to move much better and I didn't see too many odd ball movements on the floor.
Now year ago Tomba and I would always mess around with the camera's it seemed like every single year NBA Live moved better on the floor the further you were away from the action....
I'm not a tech guy but it seems like the frame rate or something gets better when you aren't zooming in to the players...
I also want to point out that not having a speed slider is huge deal because this game badly needs one and wouldn't be a bad idea to include even more camera angles or the ability to zoom in or out of the current ones provided.
Overall i'd say depending on what is actually patched in the retail version this game can become tweaked to render SIM results
So I don't buy into the opinions i've read that this is arcade basketball only.
I'm not going to lie the animations are still lights years behind the other Next Gen sports games but if we can limit the amount of poor ones we do see this game could potentially be playable until Live 17 is released....
This is coming from a guy that is a EA FANBOY and yet I stopped playing Live 15 after 1 month because i couldn't stomach the gameplay especially without no sliders last year.
Game isn't worth $60 bucks being bare bones but hey with proper sliders you can atleast get some value out of it now and that is my honest opinionNCAA FOOTBALL 14 ALUMNI LEGENDS CPU vs CPU DYNASTY THREAD

Re: Sliders & Effect on Game Play
The game speed is too fast in the demo. Way too fast.
And the CPU scores too easily in the paint.
The potential is there. Eager to see what Playmakers and Tomba come up with.Comment

Re: Sliders & Effect on Game Play
After a week with the demo and tracking the game this will be my starting point for Sliders on Pro Level.
Obviously somethings might change depending on what happens with the retail version and also I may decide to move up to All-Star or Super Star but I really enjoyed the default Pro level after some tweaks to gameplay.
12 MINUTES (EA SIDELINE CAMERA)
PRO LEVEL
COACHING OPTIONS-(These settings take some of the control out of the game but they worked surprisingly well in the demo version)
Auto Timeout
Auo Subs
High Pressure Defense on wing players
Double Team th Post on Dribble.......(This will force human player to react quicker to the D)
SHOOTING SLIDERS-(Ratings Only/This setting forces you to rely on the actual player ratings more often)
Inside Shooting 30/30
Medium Shooting 50/100
Three Point Shooting 30/30
Free Throw Shooting 40/60
Post Shooting 40/60
Layup Shooting 40/60
Post Move 40/80..........................(This was mainly increased for skilled CPU wing players like Kobe in the post to help their footwork)
Dunk Frequency 0/0......................(They still dunk the ball beleive it or not)
FOUL SLIDERS
Blocking-100
Charging-80
Reach In-80
Jump Shot-100
Post Shot-80
Layup Foul Frequency-100
Dunk Foul Frequency-80
Offensive In Air Collision-100
Offensive On Ground-80
Defensive In Air Collision-100
Defensive On Ground-80
PLAYER ABILITY SLIDERS
Steal Success 60/60
Tune Alley-Oop Success 20/80
Shot Off-Dribble Impact 40/60
Shot Contest Impact 60/60
Shot Blocking Ability 80/80
Offensive Rebounding Frequency 20/20
Offball Pushoff Frequency 80/80
Offball Pushoff Success 80/80
Offball Jostle Success 80/80
Jostle vs Blow-By 20/20.................(Still Observing this slider but for the demo this should work solid)
Game has some potential to be solid if animations become smoother in retail version and the yo-yo dribling look gets fixed.
All n All i enjoyed the demo and thought the sliders for the most part do seem to work pretty good which means on any level you should be able to edit the gameplay to fit your style.
I would also encourage you guys to dive into the playbooks to add some more replay value to the CPU teams offensively
Mid Range game may or may not get fixed with Synergy which is why i would highly reccomend tweaking the CPU playbooks to get more of those shots designed in the playbooks for them....
Peace!Last edited by Playmakers; 09-22-2015, 11:13 AM.NCAA FOOTBALL 14 ALUMNI LEGENDS CPU vs CPU DYNASTY THREAD

Re: Sliders & Effect on Game Play
Honestly game IS impressive in its own right this year.
The sliders ADD animations that's VERY clear.
Play is always right His Madden Slider set is REAL good too.
Either way The game is SO much better than Live 15 this year and the possibilities the sliders allow are not endless BUT rather REALLY fix the HORRIBLE issue of shooting that favored the CPU SO much Now it feels like WE can make shots..
The game is slowed down by the ADDING of animations and that in turn means UPPING the defensive stuff so that ALL the blocking man to man and the new "jostle and offball push off" jagon have to be adjusted, but Im wondering what the difficulty simply does to those?
That said we needed a pass speed slider similar to NHL 16
We needed a player acceleration slider or HECK! why not a madden disparity slider? and just 4 settings of game speed that'd make a TON of sense and since its EAsports maybe the team could talk to Tiburon is it? the madden team and see how they do it cuz it WORKS in madden the last 5 or 6 yrs...
As i drink my morning coffee here on the waters of italy... I can only wait til the full release and BE EXCITED for it finally cuz the games THAT good so far for meBrand New Tomba Slider sets ready for Next Gen Versions of NBA,Madden and Fifa Stay Tuned...Comment

Re: Sliders & Effect on Game Play
100% agree about the animations Tomba...
I'm not sure how much better the retail version will be with a patch but what the demo shows is that we can minimize some of those horrible looking animations and shots around the basket with sliders this year.
I will continue to test sliders and might even see how they work on higher difficulties but Pro feels very organic after tweaks.
One thing i will point out is that the contest shot slider is a huge addition this year for the HUman side because you could probably increase the CPU shooting sliders and post move sliders even higher to make them look even more atheletic and then keep their FG% down with the contest shot slider for human going up higher
Lots of little things this year we can manipulate with the sliders
Now of course depending on the Retail version all this could go for naught if EA fixed some of the issues we see in the DEMo with a patchLast edited by Playmakers; 09-18-2015, 01:10 PM.NCAA FOOTBALL 14 ALUMNI LEGENDS CPU vs CPU DYNASTY THREAD

Re: Sliders & Effect on Game Play
difficulty at this point shouldn't be the agenda fellas....
the focus needs to be on gameplay and how fluid we can make the gameplay in regards to player movement.
I can always create sliders for any level to make a game hard or easy but not at the expense of realism
These were created to provide a better overall experience in the DEMO for pickup and play without seeing too many crazy bozo the clown looking animations by the CPU on the court.NCAA FOOTBALL 14 ALUMNI LEGENDS CPU vs CPU DYNASTY THREAD

I catch your drift. I'm always down for realism.
