probably just a disparody in quickness, agility, dunk rating, and free throw ratings.

that combined gives him a 8 point increase.

Bingo. I'd say KG has the edge in things like quickness, dunk, jump, handling etc.

we're so used to ratings only being 50-100 that seing a drop of of that much seems like too much. We're so use to seeing anyone thats a superstar always in the 90s. NBA Live ratings are more spread out.

i for one believe the rating system is ok...
I am glad I got the Buell- I love riding it, I love the oddball looks I get on the road- I love people asking "What IS that thing?" I love flying into a corner WAY too hot, scared spitless and sure I'll never hold it at this speed- and hearing the bike whisper "Sissy!"...

Maybe - one can hope - overall ratings don't mean too much.

I felt this in last year's game, that the OVR didn't necessarily show the player's true worth. you needed to look deeper at individual ratings, to evaluate how you wanted to use them.

Why would Garnett be better? Honestly - all-around - Garnett is better. he can play all 5 positions, and plays both outside and in. That doesn't mean, though, that he's a better PF/C than Duncan. Just has more talents, some of which are pretty useless in the post.

I think that the players' athletic abilities tei into their OVR as much as their basketball skills. That's the only thing that could explain a guy like Steve Francis being 85 OVR and Mike Bibby being a 75.

Someone on the boards had already posted this but I think we need to see it again.

Previous NBA Lives had the rating scale of the players, 50-99. Thus, the superstar players had to be mid to high 90s leaving little room for improvment and most of all, few differences in each player. With the way they have them rated now, 1 - 99, there can be a greater sense of diversity. Each player has his own feel to him which is unique. Granted KG is rated 97 and Tim Duncan is rated 89, but the way the ratings are those are correct. I am baseing this off of a screenshot about scouting players. You had 3 categories to choose from. Offense, Defense, and Athlete. So instead of having seperate ratings for each position, I believe this is how they worked it. I think it is a good thing too since basketball is a type of game you can get away with it. Football would be nearly impossible since some people are so slow, but in basketball, your skills determine what position you play, along with height. KG plays PF because he is strong and can show midrange jumpers very well. Duncan is a great defensive player with an amazing post game. Duncan will back down KG anyday, but with repects, KG would make Duncan fall over if KG crossed him. I am not saying that Duncan is worse than KG, but KG is a better athlete than Duncan. He can do more than Duncan can but the one thing he cannot do is what Duncan can do at the CENTER position.

The way I see it, the ratings are broken down like this.

                            100 - 90 Superstar
                            89 - 80 Franchise type player
                            79 - 70 Very good player
                            69 - 60 good player
59 - 50 average player with some good ablilities
49 - 40 below average player but still can get by
                            39 - 00 bench player
