Shaq will absolutely molest the rim. He doesn't care who or what is in the way. As for Kobe, Tmac and the high flyers, I've seen a nasty dunk from Kobe on someones grill. But like last year, you'll see more in air collision and "And 1" type shots. At least, so far.

              Re: Beta Impressions...

              Let's see....

I'll talk about some of the good I've seen in the game, then some of the bad...(so far)

              Good
              1. Player spacing - It's a lot better than last year, you'll still get players bunched up on one side of the court, but overall...it's better than last year.

              2. Pro hop is not "Money" - No way can you abuse the pro hop this year baby!! It's off the chain. You can try it and get it stolen, get bumped and lose control, get whistled for a charge or blocking foul. Sometimes you can even pro hop your way into a double team and lose it that way. It's pretty sick.

              3. Double Teaming the post - Thank god I don't see this happen much this year. I remember last year, it seemed as though EVERY time I went down low, I was doubled. Not this year!! If someone does start lighting it up down there, they'll send the double, but it's NOTHING like last year.

              4. Glad to see the AI taking mid range shots. I'd like to see more midrange from the AI, but it's better than last year.

              5. Players sliding is there, but it's not as bad as last year. It bothered me quite a bit last year. It seems to be toned down some in 05.

              ------------------------------------------------------

              Bad
              1. Players are sometimes diving for balls and completely missing them, leading to easy fast break opportunities. If the AI would just run to the ball instead of diving and missing, it would be better. But instead, they seem to dive more often than not.

              2. When leading the fast break, trying to lead the pass just doesn't work. Unless there is some sort of secret way of doing this, it's getting frustrating to throw a pass down court, only to have the person you are throwing to, have to stop to catch the ball. I wish they would lead the pass, that way they can continue down the court for the flush. Sometimes they do lead the pass, but I don't know if it's something I'm doing, or if it's just programmed that way.

              3. Well, at first the one handed rebounds were killing me. Now that I've played my share of games, there aren't quite as many as I used to see.

              4. I haven't seen too many "And 1" shots actually go in. If you get hacked in the act, I'm mostly seeing misses. I'd like to see more actually go in.

Without a doubt, I'm loving this game. It might not be the game of choice for some, but I'm really getting into it. I hope to start a franchise and play around w/ things over the weekend, we'll see.

I'll try to get some movie clips as well. I'm going to post this and lock it up. You can start a discussion thread about it if you'd like.

                  Re: Beta Impressions...

OK, let me correct something I said earlier.

I said players stop on the fast break. Well, that is mostly the case when playing 2 players games w/ both players on the same team. Me and my stepson had multiple opportunities to run the fast break 2 on 1 only to see the player stop instead of being led the ball.

After playing more single player games, there aren't quite enough fast break opportunities, but when they did occur, they worked flawlessly.

Sorry for the wrong information, guess I was a little pissed about it last night when playing, lol.

                  Update your thread KDRE.

Closing for now, getting movie clips now.

                      Re: Beta Impressions...

I know a lot of questions need to be answered, but here are some answers to some very popular ones. Thanks to KDRE for gathering them all for me.

In some games I am having high offensive rebound stats, but I’d say for the most part, they balance out to be fairly realistic. Tipping or dunking in rebounds isn’t an easy task, but it feels so rewarding when you get the chance.

Sliding is definitely still in the game. I think it’s a little better than last year tho. I’ll try to play w/ the sliders to see if I can see a little less sliding.

I haven’t seen the AI catch up from behind this year, last year the AI seemed to run you down on the fastbreak w/ ease, w/ superspeed. Not the case this year.

I’m still playing around w/ the foul sliders to get some realism out of them. At the end of games, I haven’t been frustrated w/ non-calls, but there have been a few during the game, but that happens in real life.

The AI will double on the “Hot” guy. At the beginning of the game, they rarely double at all. They do change from man to man into a zone on occasion to change things up.

Atmosphere and commentary is about the same as last year IMO. There are of course new things Marv and the crew have to say. I wish the crowd would get more into the games and stadiums had authentic sounds. Maybe next year.

Remember the bumping last year, that pushed you back a few feet on collision?? It has been removed, thankfully.

There is still an invisible force field but it’s a touch better this year.

There is a delay for the AI on inbound passes this year. You couldn’t really setup to steal the inbounds passes last year, this year they give you more time. It was frustrating last year, to say the least.

There is still some slowdown, but it’s mostly during cut scenes. I have seen more slowdown on the press box view than on any other view.

I haven’t seen big name players traded when simming a few seasons. I noticed a few 1st round picks traded for bench or role players tho.

Malone, Mourning, Gill, Strickland, Padgett, Fizer, Griffin, Outlaw, Best (to name a few)…they are all in the FA pool.
