Editing 'key' players...

Well…I’ve put all the player stats into excel and had a good look at them all. Some players immediately stand out that need ‘fixing’. The clearest example of this is Jermaine O’Neal. This guy is a legit franchise player and was third in MVP voting last year.

In Live 05 he is:

21st for blocks

174th for FG’s.

16th for overall

135th for Offensive Rebounds

14th for Defensive Rebounds

5th for inside scoring.

21st for primacy (81 is way too low. The Pacers play a half court game and he’s their absolute ‘go to guy’. With Harrington traded, Jermaine is going to get all of their post plays. He really should be 90 minimum IMO so that they go to him most trips down the court)



IMO he’s a top 5 shot blocker, should be higher for FG’s and ORB’s. So, those up and primacy.



I am mainly going to focus on ‘fixing’ the star players / franchise players / go to guys / main defensive guys.

Anyone who tries to fix all the ratings down to the 3pt rating for the last man off the bench has my admiration…as well as a question mark next to their sanity

Overall, I think the ratings are pretty cool. There’s good distinction between star players, role players and scrubs. That’s the most important thing.

One strange stat…guess who has the highest stamina rating in the game? None other than…Vince Carter.

EA didn't screw up the stars, I went and looked at Duncan who everyone complained about, and look:

Speed - 65

All those are accurate, you could say dribbling should be about 51, Strength should be about 80, and Stamina could be higher, but is fine because the stamina rating is the percentage of 48 minutes the player plays. 78 means he plays 37 minutes a game. The players that need editing are the "less important" players, the bench players and the rookies are the ones that they massacre.

the only way to edit rosters is to go by the stats and convert them into a rating. if you played mvp baseball with Geforce's rosters or the one that I updated then you will see the tremendous amount of work that he put in to get the right ratings. You have to go by the stats and not by guessing or watching them play or anything else. If I can get a formula down that I can use to redo every players ratings then I will be on it.

Does anyone have a list of every rating that goes into the overall? I sold Live 04 a couple months ago so I don't know what all the categories are. I going to start a topic in the roster section so everyone can throw in their ideas.

The thing is monkey, I'm sure you've seen the latest videos. I'm pretty sure Steve left all CPU teams at "DYNAMIC" so you're going to get the 2 men on opposite sides of the post everytime down court. But Indy went to J.O. twice in the post I recall in a 2-minute video.

Now, if we switch Indy to a different offense, J.O. will still get his touches. It looks like regardless of the offense, they still go to him.

I'd like to see how it plays out the box with no ratings changes because I bet it will still average out to 20PPG, 9RPG, 2BPG and lower averages for weaker players.

Let's see.
