The one (main) reason why you persist?

Lets limit this to ONE reason each...just list your main reason for why you keep persisting with this series...

For me...it is the arena sounds. I really enjoy 2Ks gameplay this season and it is probably my fav sports game ever, but the arenas are morgue like 95% of the time for whatever reason and all the sounds are 'off'. NBA Live absolutely nails arena sounds. The different crowds in various arenas, the roar after a big shot, the defense chants...it sounds exactly like a big NBA game sounds like.

Is the sound important? Seems not to be for a lot of people. For me though, absolutely. I have a really nice surround sound system and I love my sports game to 'transport' me to the real arena / atmosphere. I want the crowd to be part of my exoerince in enjoying the game. This game, in terms of the crowd, excels. When I get a defensive stop...come down the court...penetrate, kick out for the three ball....and it drops...and the crowd absolutely goes nuts....it makes up for a lot of the other shortcomings in the game.

Crowd atmosphere....that is my main reason for persisting with this series.

For me it's the controls. I feel like I often have to fight 2K to get my players to do what I want them to do, while that's not the case here.

It used to be the atmosphere and graphics, but that's dried up for me this year TBH.

I think at this point its the fact I'm a bball junkie, so as long as there's another take on the game, Ill check it out.

i tried 2k over the weekend for free, and it instantly felt arcadey, nba live feels more smooth and real, which is why if they REALLY worked on there mechanics and engine, they would blow 2k out of the water

Mainly because I want the game to be successful. I like what Live does different and I'm holding out hope that it will continually improve.

There's lots of reasons but the main one is controls. Much more responsive, really simple, smooth controls.

DEFINITELY the control style of the game. Live has always felt more "realistic"

Its the touch controls to be more specific for me. Subtle movement and control is great in this game, and I don't have to learn or recreate Mortal Kombat fatality moves to make any shot.

Re: The one (main) reason why you persist?

I played a game tonight using Toronto vs the Hawks.

I was defending and I ran across the paint with DeMarre Caroll...came in as a double team...and the ball absolutely flew up in the air and in a weird direction...

                    I got the loose ball...

I paused and watched the replay. The ball had hit DeMarre's thumb when I came in to double....the ball flew off as it hit the top of my player's thumb...realistic deflection, realistic physics.

As I said, I love 2K...but that ball would have just gone through his hand in that game. I have had clean blocks in 2K where the ball simply warps through.

I know I said 'one' reason...but physics are another reason I persist.

LIVE has the best physics of any basketball game...but still nowhere near as good as FIFA, so hopefully the devs can improve this even more going forward.

Live has a lot of cool instances like that...I mean straight up finger tip contact like you mention...

That's why it throws me off that full body contact cant have the same consistency...that's another thread though..

Yeah, it does not have the consistency of other EA games like FIFA or even NHL or Rory Golf.

Best physics in an NBA game...but still pales compared to other sports games by the same company.

2K has always had terrible / no real physics...but they did finally add some for the rim / backboard this year that work well. Hopefully one of the basketball games gets their physics up to FIFA levels by 17. I don't care who...just want to see physics in basketball games catch up with other sports.

                          2 reasons.....

                          1) Game of my child hood (I'm loyal like that, I'm also a Raptors fan since day one. So I know about loyalty)

                          2) Competition. It's good for all basketball games all around. A better live, means a better 2k. A better 2k means a better live and so on.

For me... Atmosphere, controls, and fun.

As Walt pointed out, the game sounds like a real game and I love that.

Controls, the game plays the way I want it too. The other game is so animations heavy that I'm fighting for guys to do things. Drives me nutty to the point that I want to turn off the game, but I love bball so I keep playing.

Fun, add the two above and I'm just having a fun experience with the game. At 40, I don't have all the time in the world to okay games and sometimes I just want to have fun playing a video game.
