Live 16 Animations or Lack thereof
Idk it seems like live 15 had more layup animations and fluidity to on layups ....this year ever player plays the same it's a disgrace totally disappointed in lack of animations when we told pre release this area was addressed with 8,000 new animations I'M NOT Seeing itTags: None -
Re: Live 16 Animations or Lack thereof
8000 frames of animation maybe but there would be lucky to be 80 new animations from 15.
And as you say, to make it worse, some really good animations from 15 were removed.
I still think the game is being held back by the existing pile of animations from previous games. I'm sure most of the dunks have been around for 5 years or more in this series.
Because there are a heap of amazing, lifelike animations. The rebounding and grab animations are great, some of the mid air passes are superb, there's a bunch of second to none slow dribble up court animations too.
But it's the inconsistency that ruins it all. -
Re: Live 16 Animations or Lack thereof
I don't usually get caught up in marketing phrases, because they have their purpose and you should never read to far into them...
but they were very bold putting "best in class animation" out thereComment

Dribbling Animations
CROSSOVER MOVES -We need more animation plz add more in next patch it's just not enough Every player Guard or Big have same dribble moves THAT'S NOT REALISTIC add in Signature Crossover IDK WHY THEY WERE REMOVED when I play with CP3 I want feel like I'm playing with cp3 or if I use Dame Lillard I wanna feel like I'm using Dame or if I have Jamal Crawford I wanna be able break ankles like Jamal or Kyrie Irving But with their actual Sig Crossover packages
SIGNATURE HESI & SIZEUPS - THIS ALSO WAS REMOVED and was replaced by ugly generic packages that u see in PRO AM mode when u customize your player animations .....1 Thing I loved about live is how u can utilize Superstars Skill Set to help u break down ya defender I wanna be able use Melo on iso and hit my defender with Different size up moves that Melo actually uses to help blow by or free himself for open jumper Plz bring that back it was in 14 and 15 why not 16 smh
SIGNATURE JUMPERS & FADE AWAYS
Another feature that was removed from the game for 2yrs now if uplayed 14 which I did u noticed there were variety of different shot animation Signature Shot Animation I don't know why that was removed in 15 we lacked that and now 16 we lacked that again PLZ GIVE US More not just 50 if that .....I don't want every player shooting the same not big deal but it's important little things that can draw more ppl to play the game
POST FADES AND SHOT
Now this is area live always had problems with so I'm not surprised they need to simply add in More Physical based animations bring in Guy like Lamarcus Aldridge let him do mo cap or even guy like boogie cousins or Marc Gasol bring in NBA caliber guys to do your mo caps not D league ballers lol that is not referring to cover athletes I'm talking about the guys they use when they shoot their 5vs5 mo cap sessions ....just my opinion but for now Add in more animations get Sig Post Hooks , fade ways , that's solve ya problemLast edited by bkluvsm3; 12-01-2015, 09:12 PM.Comment

Re: Live 16 Animations or Lack thereof
Signature crossovers ARE there. You have to rock the sick left and right in the correct rhythm to execute them.
Sizeups are executed rocking the stick up and down in the correct rhythm as well. Don't forget that adding turbo will change and add additional moves as well.
Signature shots are there as well, just not the post. Post play needs to be fixed asap. It's passable, but not there yet.Comment

Look at live 15 each player had their own signature size up and hesitations as well as crossovers I'm not saying it doesn't exist what I'm saying is that Damien Lillard don't have his specific packages it was removed and replaced with genetic ones u can choose from when u creating your Pro Am characterComment

Re: Live 16 Animations or Lack thereof
They are there but looked a lot better (and joined better) in 15.
On the topic of animations, I'm still confused and annoyed in EA's decision to have all the weird behind the back dribbles and slow auto crossovers for bringing the ball up the court.
You simply (almost) never see this in real life. It makes the game look comedic and even worse, that the behind the back dribbles (the auto ones) have rubber band animation on the ball.
So many simple things that the average NBA fan could pick within seconds that made it into the game it's mind blowing.Comment

Re: Live 16 Animations or Lack thereof
I'd definitely like to see more post contact animations, and more post offensive moves added, especially the players with signature post moves or styles. I've liked what they added, but they still need more with individuality, without compromising the defense's ability to guard.
Example: Hibbard should not be able to do the same up and under or the same dream shake that Okafor can. They should look different and feel different when performed, regardless of the individual inside scoring rating tied to the animation and the player. The dream shake shouldn't even be in Hibbard's animation set, IMO. The post move set should be just as unique as a chosen dribble package.
I do think Live 16 does pass the eye test. When you take a step back and look as just a spectator, there are moments where the game's movements and animations are indistinguishable from what you see on TV, as people have come into my home and asked who was playing (when I play without the visual on court overlays), thinking it was a real game, and that's from a non gamer who thought it was amazing to watch.
Yes, Full editing could help fix specific game play issues, (it would certainly make the forums a bit quieter on the topic for a time) but full editing could also break the game that was created without editing as an option. See the other forum for all of the broken full-editing features,....and that is a "polished" product. That is potentially the pandora's box we are opening, but worse, since that game has had full-editing for much longer than this one.Currently playing:
MLB The Show 17
NBA Live 18
NBA 2k18
Madden 18
Absolver

Re: Live 16 Animations or Lack thereof
There were some in there before, but what has happened with Live is that for the third year in an row, they had to throw in contact animations because the severe lack of contact in the paint. These cause literal stop, start instances during a full speed drive that don't look good at all...that's where the 'behind' comments start creeping in...
The overall lack of animation blending is what will continue to hold the game back in this area- not only does it not look great but it effect gameplay- it's not rare that the hesitation between catch and finish has resulted turning a open shot to a contested oneComment

But I will say that this game has some of, if not the very best catch and shoot responsiveness and animations in terms of jumpshots, threes etc. It's probably the most enjoyable part of the game and give that jumpshots are so vital to basketball in general, explains why even with all the flaws, the game is still fun at the end of the day.Comment
