Maybe that will work. Typically, I find off the ball switching to be cumbersome and it tends to make the player pause temporarily. Don't think I've tried it in a fast break situation, though.

There are some really good lead pass animations that happen when you hit the fast break button (white on xbox), but they only do them when you pass from across the half court line(the passer has to be on the offensive side and pass the ball to a guy on the same side just further ahead). I've done it a few times, if you have a guy who's out in front, just cross the half court line with the ballcarrier and hit the button, it gives a nice lead pass the receiver catchs in stride and is right at the basket for a dunk or layup.

I think they didn't make this a full court thing because then you could just hit it everytime you get a rebound and you will lead your man for a wide open layup which would be pretty cheesey to do, especially for the people who play online.

I think there should be a specific way to throw the lead pass, versus it just randomly happening some of the time (which looks to be the case right now). And depending on how good the player's pass rating is and how fast and coordinated the recipient is, it might be more turnover-prone or something. That would be a way to balance it out. But you should always be able to optionally throw it. Even dumping the ball behind you to a trailer. Just making your player stop upon receiving the ball is a cheap way to make the game more difficult, IMO.

I agree. I'm sure the problem is in the game engine itself, it's just one of those things that with the current engine it's probably the cheap fix or no fix at all(like the DB play in Madden). Fast breaks are the most exciting play in basketball in most people's minds and I'm sure EA knows this and would fix it if they could. But all they can do is the cheap passing fix to make sure people don't use it as a cheap way to get points.

I'm not really trying to defend EA or anything, but I just think that they have heard the fastbreak complaint and know how big a part of the game it is, and if they could have done something about it, I think they would definitely have fixed it. It would be a big selling point of the game if they had realistic fast breaks in the game.

I have had some successful fast breaks as well as the CPU (especially Michael Finley). It seems that some times they stop, sometimes they don't for me. It is much better this year IMO, but not perfect.

I did notice that switching to the press box cam helped a little bit for me, and I'm not quite sure why.

Judging by the passing not being up to par I bet next year's addition to Live will be freestyle passing! It's the only logical thing left in the 'freestyle era'.
