Christ, how bad do I suck?

I'm using Jistic's sliders, and I can't ever seem to beat the computer! I can't hit a jumpshot to save my life while the computer manages to drain mid-range and 3 balls all over me, even with a guy in their face!!

This is the first time I've played Live in a few years, and don't get me wrong, I love it and normally I like a challenge, but I just can't seem to win period! It goes the same way: I keep it close for a while, then, all of a sudden my team goes ice cold and the other team just keeps draining jumper after jumper!

    What am I doing wrong?

there's nothing wrong with struggling, that just means you have some good playtime in front of you. i can't tell you how much i hate picking up a game and being really good at it no matter what. you know, starting out at almost the highest difficulty or the highest and still rolling right away.

just keep it up. don't give in. the key is not to make it too easy, figure out what works and stick to it. use the pick and roll, isolate your best player, etc. you'll get it down. just don't give up too easily and start pushing the sliders down until you get really frustrated. sooner or later you'll pick up tricks and learn how to win!

    practice, practice, practice!!!

Number one...Don't be afraid to burn TO's!!!!This is of the utmost importance!

See, when the CPU gets its dander up, they will maul you. The D gets tighter, their fastbreaks get better, and it will seem like someone put a little plastic cap on your rim. Don't panic. Call a TO...if they score another 3-4 points call another one. You have GOT to stop their momentum.

Play your BEST defense, don't take any jumpers...try to get to the basket and draw fouls. Don't try to freestyle your way out of a jam either, it won't work.

When you feel things slip away, be patient and understand that the CPU won't be this hot for TOO long...just try to ride it out, limit their offense and don't let them get too big of a lead, just try to keep it within 10, because once YOUR team gets hot, you can get right back in the game.

Expect this to happen at least twice per game...sometimes right out of the gate...trust me, this game was handing me my *** on a platter with all the fixins before I settled down and played patiently.

        Hope that helps...

Interseting. So timeouts actually make a difference? I thought it was just psychological. What you describe here would mean that there are times where you are purposely handicapped by the computer when the CPU goes on a run, but you can quickly get rid of this handicap by calling time.

i feel you, my guys keep missing wide open shots, its so hard to shoot in this game because the blocks are absurd. unless you change the computer defense to man to man this game is a nightmare when the computer plays on auto switch.

i get guys who get wide open and either miss the shot or i have to release the button and put up a poor shot just to keep from getting blocked. i swear the computer defenders rotate way too fast.

i run the pick and roll then go to isolation against a center or pf and if i ever do happen to beat em off the dribble somebody rotates to me so quick i can't put a shot up. the freestyle dribbling and pro hop are almost useless. i can't even get good ball movement to pass around looking for the open man cause every pass gets poked at and the players are so cluttered and jumbled together.

i'm not saying this game is bad but it has serious flaws. at times more frustration than fun. what really hurts is when the computer takes a 3 with somebody in their face and hits it while your guys miss wide open ones.

What difficulty are you playing at? I play All-star difficulty with Pared's sliders, and I don't notice any problems. Have you played previous Live games before?

i had live 04 and had an east time playing on superstar with default sliders.
i'm playing on superstar with default sliders here. when i switch the computer defense to man to man from autoswitch like it says in this thread http://forums.operationsports.com/vB...ad.php?t=98360 i can win easy but on autoswitch no way.

At superstar difficulty, you should expect the defense to be very aggressive and swarming. I used to play at super-star difficult in 2004 as well, but for 2005 I'm finding all-star to be very comfortable. Not too easy, not too hard.
