I'm using Jistic's sliders, and I can't ever seem to beat the computer! I can't hit a jumpshot to save my life while the computer manages to drain mid-range and 3 balls all over me, even with a guy in their face!!

This is the first time I've played Live in a few years, and don't get me wrong, I love it and normally I like a challenge, but I just can't seem to win period! It goes the same way: I keep it close for a while, then, all of a sudden my team goes ice cold and the other team just keeps draining jumper after jumper!

What am I doing wrong?

what level are you playing it at (rookie, starter, all-star, superstar)?

I'm moving to starter for a while. I just got killed by the Cavs, LeBron had 10 super human blocks. I am using Pared's sliders as the Hawks, and I swear Childress would be wide friggin open from the top of the key and LeBron would jump from below the free throw line and block it every time.

i had live 04 and had an east time playing on superstar with default sliders.
i'm playing on superstar with default sliders here. when i switch the computer defense to man to man from autoswitch like it says in this thread http://forums.operationsports.com/vB...ad.php?t=98360 i can win easy but on autoswitch no way.

That's your problem right there. With the defense on autoswitch weak side defenders will come over to help, proper basketball fundamentals. With it on Man to man, you can freestyle your way straight to the hoop practically all day.

You're going to have to reframe your mindset and playstyle, b/c one on one just won't work 100% of the time anymore.

Number one...Don't be afraid to burn TO's!!!!This is of the utmost importance!

See, when the CPU gets its dander up, they will maul you. The D gets tighter, their fastbreaks get better, and it will seem like someone put a little plastic cap on your rim. Don't panic. Call a TO...if they score another 3-4 points call another one. You have GOT to stop their momentum.

Play your BEST defense, don't take any jumpers...try to get to the basket and draw fouls. Don't try to freestyle your way out of a jam either, it won't work.

When you feel things slip away, be patient and understand that the CPU won't be this hot for TOO long...just try to ride it out, limit their offense and don't let them get too big of a lead, just try to keep it within 10, because once YOUR team gets hot, you can get right back in the game.

Expect this to happen at least twice per game...sometimes right out of the gate...trust me, this game was handing me my *** on a platter with all the fixins before I settled down and played patiently.

Hmmm......interesting, I never realized TO's actually made a difference in the game. I thought it was just to stop the clock late in the game, or to make a substitution.


My two biggest problems are shooting jumpers, and getting around defenders. I use Pared's sliders (they're great) and after about 5 games, I raised the mid and long range user shooting slider up to 48. It has helped slightly, but I'm still not knocking down open jumpers like I would want.



I also have a hard time getting around my defender. I don't expect my player to blow by his defender every possesion, but once in a while I would like to blow by my man and get into the lane without having to use freestyle.

Is there anyway to help out with getting by your defender without using picks and such??

I just made the same exact post...sorry i didnt read this first.

But i too am using jistic sliders...and while I can make jumpers and 3s with certain players....I often miss alot of jumpers with guys who make them. There should be no excuse why guys like Dirk, Jason Terry, Nash, Richardson, etc. should miss wide open 3s. Meanwhile the computer looks like the real life Sacramento Kings. I mean the field goal percentages are somewhat realistic at the end of the game but it just feels like damn computer can hit a jumper whenever it wants. Rasual Butler finished 5/6 from deep on me...and ended with 20 points. NO 2 point field goals. All 3s and free throws. And it wasnt Shaq getting doubled and throwing it back out....they often WENT TO Butler and hell run right behind the line with my man in his face and still hits the jumper. I could block it every time if i wanted...but how realistic would that be? I dont want to finish the game with my guards with 5 blocks a piece.

Yeah I know what you guys mean. But, for some reason it doesn't bother me all that much. I guess because I know in the back of my head I can prevent it with a few tweaks of the sliders, but for now I don't want to make it easier for me because I don't want to feel like I cheated the AI. Though I still suck and I don't think I have one a single game yet.


I've played against the Heat, and Butler did hit his shots, but he didn't get the ball nearly as much. He would mainly shoot if he had the ball with the shot clock running down, or if there was a mix up on defense and he got wide open alog the base line.

I remember playing a game against the Lakers and it felt like Kobe and Atkins were hitting every 3pointer they put up, but when I looked at the box score at the end of the game, Kobe was 3-6, and Atkins was 1-7. I guess they just hit their threes when they really needed to.
