What I hate about NBA LIVE 2005

I own both ESPN 2k5 and Live 2005. I do enjoy both but I hate two things in live 2005. The first thing is the game is point guard driven. All the point guards take way to many shots no matter what team your playing. And the big fowards and centers who shold score don't take enough shots and dont score as much as they should. The second thing I hate is there are very few substitustions. Granted I only play five minute quarters there still should be some subs. I do not have time to play full NBA quarers so this bothers me. These problems are not in ESPN, but untill they release an updated roster I am playing Live 2005.
Any thoughts or help would be ga great help.

    Thanks in advance

Re: What I hate about NBA LIVE 2005

I'm glad I didn't buy NBA 2k5...that game is horrible. I hate how you have to hold extra buttons just to do a simple dunk, I hate that IsoMotion crap that all the players can pull off, 24/7 is a joke, the shoes are a joke, that team chemistry thing is a joke....but. I do love the player cutaways, the highlight reels, and the half-time, post game shows..plus ESPN's presentation (and custom soundtrack option) murders EA. That was $20 well saved.

NBA Live on the other hand, I love. The replays are horrible, the shoes are authentic but for the most part ugly...and the PDA thing is getting kind of annoying now. The owner emails irk me, and the weekly power rankings annoy me to...where's the Sports Illustrated covers? Why just NCAA Football?!?

NBA Live 2006 can be THE perfect game, it can be the same as Live '05 but EA should remove the Freestyle Air (Split Screen) Dunk Contest...and add in cut scenes, cut aways, highlight reels, and some type of TV presentation...use the Best Damn Sports Show Period if you want, just follow ESPN's lead...man I'm telling you, ESPN's presentation...with EA's games would equal the pefect game, I promise...maybe one day they'll see.

Re: What I hate about NBA LIVE 2005

The biggest problem I'm having with Live is that I can dominate too much with ISOs and the post game. When using the clippers, Chris Kamen backs down most big men and dunks over htem with ease. I'm not sure if there is a slider that can fix this or not. But I find that once I can do this with a Chris Kamen, it takes away my strategy for the game and I abandon the outside shot and start dumping everything into the post for a back down and slam. It doesn't help that there is no 5 second back down rule. Big men are too dominant in Live. Anyone have a solution?

Point Guards that arn't scorers don't shoot on me. When I play a team like Seattle Ridnour passes to Lewis or Allen right away.

And although I agree that the Big men don't score as much as they should, It's not to bad.

To me there are a few issues, some related to AI, some related to player control and then there's also a couple of animation issues DOn't get me wrong, I like the game a lot and believe it has many strong points, but there are some things that are just wacky

I don't think you can say that this game is flawless and simply needs custom soundtracks like Gilateen is saying. It's a bit of a romp, but it isn't a great sim. Also, please don't take this as me bashing Live and giving 2K5 a free pass. To me, that title also has some issues in the same areas, but with different executions. What I will say in comparison is that where there is a clear difference in 2K5 is in the relevant play sets and the AI, particularly on the defensive end, is much better

Right now I'm still playing both, but I'm hoping and guessing that will change once College Hoops 2K5 lands. That, to me, is still the game to beat in 2004-05

                    Have fun....................................
Basketball made me the man I am today; Arthritic and Bitter...

                    What I think I think:
                    • Y'know, I've never played less NBA 2K than I did with NBA 2K12
                    • Sports VG titles were REALLY disappointing in 2011-12
                    • Thank Heaven for ME3 and Arkham City -- saved my winter

I'd love to hear an answer to this one, also. This is my ONLY gripe with the game. (I do wish EA would steal ESPN's camera views, too)

I hate how many blocks there are in NBA Live 2005. It takes a lot of tweaking just to get them down to a reasonable level.

About the dominant big men, I had that issue too, playing with the Chicago Bulls using Pared's sliders on All-Star. Eddie Curry and Tyson Chandler could back down anyone and dunk on them almost every time. This problem hasn't been as prevalent since I switched to Jistic's All-Star Sliders. It makes dominating the game with sub-par big men a lot more difficult, and also does a better job with foul and free throw numbers (they need to be toned down a bit, though).

Although it's not a perfect solution, it works better than any others I have found.
