And as much as I hate to admit, when you see the stats, outside of os which is a blip in the realm of consumers, editing is nowhere near the top of the list.

I despise the career modes, pro am, etc. But that's where the masses spend time. I'm old school and have argued time and time again that We the people NEED editing for the game to succeed. Trust me, I'm the world's biggest advocate and the loudest mouth for editing and franchise modes. Us OS dinosaurs are not the current trend in video games though.

With that said, thankfully there are quite a few devs who are like us. It is on the priority list. The game is improving substantially and imho deserves all of the support in the world.
Thanks for going to bat for us old school guys need as many "dinosaurs" on our side as we can get. I'm afraid that we will be completely forgotten one day and my dream of playing franchises all day went I retire in about 30 years will soon be destroyed.

Editing is just so important for me to go deep into a franchise/dynasty. For example, if a players game evolves IRL I like to adjust him mid-franchise. Take Mark Gasol last season for example. Before last season he had taken a total of 66 career 3-pointers and only hit 12 (18%). Then last season he started shooting and hitting at an unbelievable rate hitting 104 of 268 (38%). When a change that significant happens I want to see it in my franchise too, so in 2k I upped is 3P rating and tendency.

For me, it's not just editing, but overall roster management. I have zero faith in any company to have decent team building AI, so I want control so I can micromanage where I see fit. Whether that's not allowing a trade to go through or trading away players where a team stacked a certain position, etc. I want control and going for have control to not having control is a hard pill to swallow for me.

What this reminds me of and what I hope this doesn't become is what happened baseball video games a few years ago with The Show vs MLB2K. After playing The Show for a few years I went back to MLB 2K12 (iirc) and actually found the gameplay to be more fun and it even had a few franchise elements that The Show didn't have that I really enjoyed. However, The Show was just a way more polished game and the overall package easily made it the better game. Obviously, we saw what happened there and I don't want that to happen here. Competition is a great thing, but if we can't get basic things like player editing, then I'm afraid we're headed down a similar path.

Yes, it'll still be a buy for me. I never personally mess with roster editing.

Because your continued dollars despite brain neutral decisions like this are no incentive for them to actually correct said decisions.

It boggles my mind the stuff people are willing to put up with over some nostalgic feeling about playing this game 20 years ago. Meanwhile, when LeBron went back to Cleveland, dudes had to start up a dynasty playing AS THE CAVS just to get him to the Cavs and only to still have him wearing number 6 when you did it with no way to change it. God forbid he bolts Cleveland at the end of this coming season since you'll have no way to make that change. We've now released two different versions of next gen consoles since the last time NBA Live had the ability to do something as simple as change whether or not LeBron is wearing an arm sleeve whenever you decide. That is unacceptable no matter how you slice it.

Like I'm honestly sitting here thinking how absurd it is that we go through this with every Live now and people are still willing to hand over full price for this game talking about supporting competition and the company sees these kind of dedicated and passionate fans and still goes through with kicking people in the balls with stuff like this.

I recently got an XBOX One for my living room tv, while my PS4 is in my bedroom. So I went ahead and pulled the trigger on EA Access. Saw Live 16 in the Vault so went ahead and downloaded it so I'll have 2K on my PS4 and when I'm sitting around in the living room and want to play some hoops I'll just toss on Live. So anyway, I just fired up Live for the first time today figured I'd get some games in, maybe dive into Career. Obviously playing this on the One for the first time ever I've got all kinds of updates downloading when I first start up the game. I see the last roster update was like July 6 of 2016. So I go view my Bulls squad in the game and this is what I'm stuck with.

Jimmy Butler, Pau Gasol, Joakim Noah, Jose Calderon, Robin Lopez, Taj Gibson, Doug McDermott, Nikola Mirotic, Aaron Brooks, Jerian Grant, Mike Dunleavy, E'Twaun Moore, Tony Snell, Bobby Portis and Spencer Dinwiddie.....

Are you freaking kidding me EA? Y'all couldn't at least update these rosters on opening night so that you didn't get only like the first 2 days worth of offseason moves? Then you want to go into Live 18 where this kind of garbage could very easily happen again if y'all don't sell worth a **** this year because you've tanked your reputation so badly that even when you have a promising look title like 16 WAS people still won't buy it? And people are STILL okay with handing over full price to these people knowing that something this crucial has been neglected again? No KD on the Warriors, Dwight is still with the Rockets, Kobe is still on the Lakers, Duncan still with the Spurs and there is no way to change any of that and since they don't have any sort of roster sharing or database of their roster updates, I can't even go back to the game's default rosters or the last roster update BEFORE the draft/offseason trades happened.

Can't believe people want to blame live fans for lack of editing. They aren't lying to us. We know what's in the game. They just marketed and entire my player mode and hardly any actual NBA.

Looking forward to customizing my guy.

For me, it's going to depend on the demo. If the gameplay and AI are solid, I'll likely buy it. If I don't like the demo, then I'll pass until it eventually goes in the Vault. One missing feature isn't a make or break for me; I'm more concerned with how the game plays on the court.

That being said, roster editing is definitely something that should be in the game at this point. Even if we can't edit ratings or accessories, the option should be there at least to move players around and keep the rosters current, especially after Synergy updates stop coming down.

If the on court gameplay is fun, I'll be buying. I really like what I see in the new videos. Sure, there are some goofy moments, but my days of high expectations are over. I am burnt out on the other game, and will gladly take Live for what it is, as long as it's fun.

I haven't had fun playing 2k for a few years now. It turned into an endless cycle of editing rosters and sliders trying to get the gameplay right, waiting for a new patch, starting all over again because they tune gameplay through roster updates, and I never (as an offline guy) got into having fun just playing the game.

Personally, it might be a blessing in disguise for there not to be editing. I'll play the game for what it is instead of constantly trying to tune it for the better.

Live's biggest priority, IMO, should be to get things right that 2k gets wrong. Mainly being controls and responsiveness. 2k looks good in motion, but playing it can become a struggle. If Live looks a little funky, but playing it feels intuitive and fun, I am all aboard.

It's a no buy without customization. I'll be able to play with the rookies that just got drafted in about a half hour because of customization in the other game. I can replay seasons from decades ago because of customization. There are rosters with millions of downloads that are 100% customized and loved. Customization is a staple in a large amount of gaming, period, and in a sports game, you've got to have it.

This is the worst line of thinking ever.

Anytime you have less options its not worth it.

This game needs to do more than just focus on what 2k is not doing right...because they do A LOT right.

You can't compete with a franchise who puts out a complete game each year while you keep saying we're hearing you and working on it and NEVER do it.

Its way below standards of todays games in general to be missing core features year after year for no reason at all.
