I'll probably buy Live at some point just for a change of pace, but I honestly wish I could experience this game through the eyes of you all who are praise it so much. It's not complete garbage, but it's far from a great game in it's current state.

I should have worded that better! My mistake. I wasn't trying to bait. I wrote that in the heat of the moment and I wanted it to be that way so you could sense the excitement and I wanted it to feel genuine. Yes, that is my opinion. And I feel strongly about that.

I did not intend for this to be a debate.

I just wanted to give my 100% truest and most authentic impressions and feelings of the game.

I dunno. I feel like there is a good bit of cheese on Superstar difficulty. They always seem to make the right basketball play, find the open man, nail the open 3. CPU defenders will make over-the-shoulder, one-handed, backhanded snags of passes to teammates that were once wide open. Go on 11-0 runs in a flash. For the majority of time in games on superstar, it is a fair fight. But there are just these stretches where the CPU can do no wrong and I can do no right -- it's ridiculous. So I find it to be fairly cheesy on Superstar.

All-Star, as always, is always the best balance, with little to no cheese.

Glad you're having fun roch....that's the most important thing...

As far as the topic goes, and after playing online H2H....most of the 'cheese' revolves around the automatic shots near the rim, regardless of the defense....seems like it turns into game of getting into a position to activate one rather than play ball...

Those are the type of plays where it doesn't matter if in defensive crouch or not. That play is going to happen. Happens to me from the corner when my defender can't snap into defensive mode. This plays out a few times a game. Happens in both games when the cpu is on a mission no matter the laws of the game.

Its sad you have to write a cons list before giving the game praise every time. I personally can see why some would overly hype the game. Some folks can look past the pretty makeup and such. If live was feature rich(wtf did they do the last 2 years) it would be a different story.

I've played some good games head to head where you get rewarded for playing sim, but I agree with you also came across games where guys pretty much turbo at will to get easy points in the paint. Unfortunately rocket dunks still exist so makes it so easy.

I feel like the definition of cheese has evolved over the years. I thought it was something that can't be stopped, moreover, a glitch in the code that a player will use to their advantage in H2H. To that, I personally haven't run into anything of that nature. LiveRun will have 6 point guards and 4 wing players and wonder why everyone is getting dunked on. 90% of the players are offensive in style, so I expect no defense to be seen. I've seen things that felt cheesy at first (baseline reverse layups) but i was trying to block it way too early. Then it was patched to sometimes step out of bounds.

Re: This game is NEARLY Cheese Free!

Live has been wetting the bed since Bynum went Jesus in the middle of the floor some years ago. I think people are just happy to have a LEGITIMATE basketball game from EA on the market finally (Live 10 imo being their last good one). Compared to the stuff they have put out in the past there is no denying this game is a huge step in the right direction for them. I will certainly be throwing down some cash sometime this month for it. No game is issue free imo and we will all ignore a games flaws in order to enjoy it or use those perceived flaws to justify a non-purchase...This practice will continue for eternity..
EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.

Re: This game is NEARLY Cheese Free!

The layups can very easily be tuned. Put the sliders down a bit and you'll get more animations as well as more realistic interactions, especially on reverse layups. Can't just spam the paint and you'll get better shot selection by the CPU and user, naturally.

Same with offensive rebounding. Easy fix.

I wouldn't consider anything tuneable to be cheese.

Loose balls seem to always go to the defense unless you user grab it. And defenders are tracking and intercepting passes with eyes in the back of their heads. Face guarding and putting a hand up is one thing, but the no look snags are another lol. At least turn your head and look up for the ball.

That said, I love the anticipation and play recognition by defenders. Positioning does matter on passing in this game and I love that. I've seen elite defenders like LeBron, Draymond, and Kawhi read plays like a safety and swoop over and jump a pass like Ed reed. I haven't seen it much, which it makes it all that more special.

CPU offensive AI never feels cheesy or unstoppable to me. Never have I felt cheated in this game.
