you are spot on. Those who remember, NBA Live 10 was bare boned but had a new engine too, and far as I am concerned, was the best NBA Live they made in years. Give me bare boned with awesome gameplay first and worry about goodies later and down the road. I like what they did.

As an offline single player I would love to just be able to play the initial Drew League game that we got when we first booted up the NBA Live 18 demo but I can't even do that let alone play on any of the other non-NBA courts unless I do it as part of the The One mode.Comment

Re: What I'm seeing with NBA Live..
I've been away from this site for a good while, but checking out NBA Live 18, I keep seeing that people are not really giving the game a chance because the game isn't "feature-rich" like 2k is.
Granted, it is 2017 and games should be feature packed; but I see this version of Live as a complete rebuild from the ground up. Started from 0%.
Maybe they wanted to gain a little bit of traction by releasing a game that was actually playable at first and then will add more and more features in the iterations that come.
You have to start from somewhere, you know?
Just my two cents..

Start from somehwere? You do realise this is the third or fourth release of this game in a row lacking editing, no real franchise mode, all these bugs present in all previous releases not cleaned up. Stop making excuses. This is not a rebuild or new engine. It is a refined version of the previous release.
This game started its rebuild around the time PES / Winning Eleven did.
Both were around 6/10 back then.
Konami have got their game up to solid 9s. Live will be 6s, yet again.Last edited by Walt Frazier; 09-12-2017, 04:25 AM.Comment

Re: What I'm seeing with NBA Live..
Going to defend the devs a bit here. Lost in all this seems to be that people forget major devs were hijacked from Live series development during their rebuild yrs. If Rodgers or Brady were lost for the entire year, or you lost the player you were building around, would you expect a title? How about consecutive years? You'd need your rookies to step up at some point and they now have IMO for LIVE. Sometimes you have to go beyond the cash register to see what's been going on. To rebound this game as quickly as they have after losing major contributing personnel and ideas to the competition in this industry is amazing. I work in software for the govt, and when we lose ANY developer we are set back weeks and sometimes months trying to track all of their work progress and fixes down, even with well placed code check in, check out tracking methods, they still have to assign the work to someone else, usually a new inexperienced hire, or on-site intern, and our dev teams are much larger than EA so we spread out the work and in some cases contract it out to keep the release schedules.
Kudos to Live team for their dedication and progress. I give it a 7.5 simply for the lack of online leagues, lack of online head to head, lack of WNBA options, and no editing, and minor bugs.. Other than that it's exactly as I'd hoped in its progression and better in some areas.
A very high number of former community requests not named Edit made it into the game.
Feels arcade? If coming from 2k, Please change the speed to the 2K speed/sliders/view you were using before commenting in a biased way, if you are coming from that game and going to play it like 2k.
You still have the "2k touch". When playing their prelude I had to play it like 2k, as I had been playing Live 18, to enjoy it for what it is and for the "AI" things it doesn't do as well as LIVE does.
IMO, Die Hard fans of the other game finally have a good game as an option purchase until their servers inevitably stop crashing in December.
Live 18 may not be the starter right now for many but it does very well as the 6th man pushing for a starting role.

You realize that Tiburon started on a clean slate with NBA Live 14. That installment was developed from the ground up. The 2k games have always evolved from the past iterations.

Re: What I'm seeing with NBA Live..
I'm going through and reading everyone's replies about this.
Yes, it may be a build from the past four years, but why all of a sudden take two years to further enhance this already developed build?
(Maybe I'm just lost and confused.)
Since this game had a two year development cycle this go-around, I say it started from 0%. I'm probably wrong, but so what?
It's like everyone is expecting Live to damn near be on par with 2k with everything.
I honestly feel like people have been spoiled by the way 2k have done things, and even if it's an "industry standard" in 2017, I'm fine with Live being without some "essential" features that forum members and reviewers "demand" it have.
It's a race.. 2k is already at full stride.
Live on the other hand, just started jogging, let them get to full stride, and then judge them.

Re: What I'm seeing with NBA Live..
As someone who is mainly just a casual offline gamer who doesn't really get into the MyPlayer/The One/Ultimate team modes, I wish this game had the modes/features that NBA Live 10 had. In fact, I wish they could just copy the modes from NBA Live 10 for this/all games. Live 10 had Dynamic Season (sort of like Play Now Live), Dynasty, Playoffs mode, FIBA World Championship (as it had the FIBA license), and Fantasy Teams mode (which is sort of like a poor man's single play ultimate team mode. I believe Live 10 also had roster editing as well.
As an offline single player I would love to just be able to play the initial Drew League game that we got when we first booted up the NBA Live 18 demo but I can't even do that let alone play on any of the other non-NBA courts unless I do it as part of the The One mode.

Re: What I'm seeing with NBA Live..
I'm sorry about not responding, but thank you all for your respectful responses.
I also agree that the game should have more "features" in the game, but I have enough patience that I can wait for it. I see everything has a step for it.
Maybe I just think differently. But I believe within the next couple of years, Live will really be a force to be reckoned with. Competition is good.
