I FIGURED OUT WHY I LIKE THIS GAME!

I love how much of a role physical momentum plays in how you attack an opponent and how they react to your moves in this game. It makes it beautiful to create plays like these.

As a guy whos played 2k for the past 13 years, Live 18 gameplay looks far superior to me. I really don't get the hate. It looks way more fluid to me and the atmosphere is miles better.

For me personally, as someone who absolutely loves ball movement, player movement rather than isolation ball, the other basketball game allows me to have a better offensive half court flow. Live is still cool but stuff that I mentally want to do something, I simply can't or have difficulties executing in Live.

Have you ever tried running motion plays online?? It takes approximately 23 seconds from inbound to run any type of motion play... God forbid the play breaks down because a guy gets stuck in a screen animation!! Offline it works flawlessly in NBA 2K but when you want to actually play against someone who can match up with you, it's merely impossible!

Honest I can't agree more, never said anything because I think people would think I'm nuts, but in LIVE the court are amazingly beautiful, players models are fine with me and the Lighting is the best. I'm a LIVE screen shot junkie, look in the screens thread, game looks so good IMO.

Offline player only, but even during offline scenarios when a play takes longer to run and the same if I were to play online, I'd improvise on the spot or have planned improvisations.

I can branch out into different plays altogether or improvise on the spot in the middle of the first play, purposely run the first play as a decoy to actually setup my desired play. Or run two decoys to actually setup the third real play.

You also don't need to let the full play develop to use it as an offensive attack. Initiate a play where your intended outcome was actually to only use half of that first play to setup what you really wanted to do. Call a play meant for Curry as a decoy, and in the middle of the same play, you were actually wanting the center Zaza to cut to the paint, or you were looking to actually kick it out to Klay Thompson, or even better yet, your real option was actually a third tactic -- have Durant cut to the basket. Two decoys to get to your real play.

Sure you can certainly throw decoys in Live as well, but I simply can't do certain mechanics in Live that I would like to, one of which involves calling a specific player not in proximity to come set a screen immediately on the spot. The analog stick and screen button isn't always responsive; no player specific icon to set a screen. I often use this mechanic to have a player come meet the pass. I also don't believe there are any off-ball control mechanics in Live 18. Also, plays in Live 18 are not categorized by specific players -- can't cue up all plays for Curry or Durant. And for some reason, there are certain plays when I initiate in Live that it causes me to completely lose control of my ball handler. Calling a play for Durant while Curry has the ball, and computer would automatically move Curry 4-5 feet away from my initial spot. I understand why, but I didn't want Curry to start moving until I say so.

When I think about NBA Live, I normally think of having total player control when it comes to player movement using the left analog stick. But when it comes to having total control over player mechanics and overall team mechanics, I actually think about the other game.

And unfortunately, the gap between Live and the other game when it comes to "total player control" I believe is no longer as great as it is anymore. After playing the demo for the other game, I do not think Live has the advantage anymore.
Thread title - I FIGURED OUT WHY I LIKE THIS GAME!. Why are your bringing 'the other game' into this thread? This thread is about Live 18.

Did you at least read the responses by other users to the thread title? Had both of them simply kept the talk about strictly about Live, then I would have approach the thread the same.

The other game was mentioned by the second responder in this thread and then MLBNFLNBALGS responded to my comment, again by using the other game as example.

Even if no mention of the other game took place, those same drawbacks I mentioned strictly about Live is still valid. Those are areas I would like Live more if those areas actually worked better. When it comes to the opener's post about momentum playing a part, that could be a plus or minus depending on you look at it. Ankle breakers completely making a defender lose control of his player means I'm losing player control.

Note: Also did you actually have to quote my entire post. That's making things worst. I'll re-edit my post with a spoiler tag if you prefer.
