Check this out. I never thought I'd get enjoyment out of this type of stuff, but breaking people down w/ Kyrie is quite a bit of fun. Making the entire Warriors team look defenseless, even better.

I've only played one game after adjusting some sliders so it's too early to tell if some of the issues can be helped with adjustments.

Essentially on pick and rolls you do not have to create an angle to make a pass. The roll guy has a direct path to the basket and no one drops or rotates down to protect the rim. It looks great a fluid but works too well. I don't want it totally nerfed or create fake bobbles so the defender can catch up. Just would like to see it not be a money play.

Passing into the post from improper angles and passes that travel too far of a distance and getting all the way into the paint happen to frequently without consequence.

I did notice changing the close shot slider down to 40 is at least making inside shots less automatic. Boogie still scores pretty easily around the rim but Baynes is not. Not really a result of better interior defense per se. Just more misses giving the impression that your banging and contesting have an actual effect.

I'll have to see how other teams are defended because I've played the demo only as the Celtics and it's probably not wise for defenders to help on drives because it would leave their shooters open. But more so than in 18 players near the ballhandler that is driving are not helping. They're kind of staying tight or hugged up on their man.

Not gameplay sliders but coaching adjustments. Specifically what you want your players to do in the pick and roll

Re: NBA Live 19 Demo Available Now For Both Xbox One & PS4 - Post Your Impressions He

I spent the afternoon yesterday playing the demo to see how things have changed after buying the game on sale last year. It might just be because I had higher expectations this year, but I came away disappointed. I was hoping to see more progress made in terms of ball physics, signature animations, and passing especially.

The commentary was pretty bad in 18, but based on the demo, it seems like it's actually taken a step backwards this year. There's still a lot of really wonky stuff happening in the game; a few examples being:
          • Passes traveling at roughly 1,000 miles per hour: This occurred upwards of 10 times during my play through The One and a couple exhibition games; passes would pretty much go into hyperspeed at random.
          • Players not being allowed to dribble: This happened three times; the game wouldn't allow the player to dribble. The only option was to jabstep, and the player would literally start out at the free throw line, and the jabsteps would cause the player to continue sliding backwards until he reached half-court.

Beyond these weird issues, I still saw a lot of physically impossible bounces off the rim, shot-blockers seemingly being unaware of where the ball is (i.e. just making a blocking animation while the shooter is actually behind them), and the same poor AI movement that plagued NBA Live 18.

Having said all that, I don't want to come across as a ***** or anything; it's not all bad. A couple of things that really stood out to me:
          • On-ball defense remains better than the other game was a year ago at least; I haven't been able to try this year's Prelude yet.
          • The new "cell phone camera" angle is a cool touch that they added this year, though I wish it would show the play rather than just the aftermath.
          • They've clearly tried to branch out their presentation in The One even more, bringing in guys like famouslos, using Overtime's twitter account, etc.
          • While I'm overall disappointed in the way the game plays, there are still flashes of brilliance here and there. For example, I had a nice drive with Steph last night and went to dump the ball off to Cousins and it had a nice wraparound pass animation that led to an easy layup. It's also far smoother drawing your defender into a ball screen and then reversing course when they try to cheat around it. The other game still struggles immensely in terms of allowing you to navigate off of ball screens well; this game might be better in that aspect.

Much like Live 18, I'm going to pass on buying this at release, but I might pick it up when it's on sale like I did last year to continue supporting its existence. I remain very happy that we have multiple NBA games to choose from even if I still think this one has a long, long ways to go.

It's pretty so don't get me wrong, but I only like this stuff if the game didn't allow other defenders to be non existent in the animation.

Klay is right there and does nothing to prevent this play.

I've noticed it with some other stuff such as step back jumpers. I've lost my defender but another defender standing right next to me won't react since he isn't part of the animation. In turn, I can bury an "open" shot despite the fact that I'm actually being crowded. The game simply doesn't recognize that and it's that next level awareness I hope we see in the future.

I dunno. I know I’ve said it before but I think the in your face defense and limited help defense is a must right now.

Google NBA Live shot meter. There are a bunch of videos on “how to never miss a shot”. I remember that video that came out for EAs I’ll fated NBA Elite where some guy played a game and never missed a shot cause he had mastered the meter in the demo.

I wondered if last years answer to the shot meter was the contested shot problems people were complaining about. Remember the game was considering it a contested shot when the defender was really far away or on the side.

I love Lives shot meter. It’s very gratifying to get that perfect shot but it’s a slippery slope when you leave the results all up to the skill of the user. You had better make sure it’s really hard to master certain mechanics.

I like to use Ratings + Skill for the shot meter. Just last night I was playing a game of 18 and hit the meter perfectly with Grant on the Bulls, but the shot missed because of his low 3-pt. rating.

The demo is on ratings + skill and I’ve never missed a perfect shot meter shot. Was the feedback of your shot green? As of my understanding no “green” shots miss. Certain players have very small “green” areas or even none so you can’t drain threes with a guy like grant. I like how that works and it’s actually closer to the difficulty I think shooters should have then the way it is now. Yellow should mean it might go in and even good shooters should fall into that more than what’s happening now if they aren’t contested.

Maybe I’m good at the shot meter but if I’m getting an uncontested shot it’s “green” 90% of the time and the only thing keeping my shooting percentage in check is that I’m not getting those really good looks very often and I feel like the only reason I’m not getting those often is the unrealistic smothering AI defense. So basically it feels like a catch 22 in my opinion.

Like I said in an earlier post I wanted to test what might happen if we had more open looks on all star so I put the game on pro because it’s easier to get open or uncontested looks and turned the mid and three shot sliders down to 0 and still shot over 50% from the field. In theory that sounds good but it lead to an unbalance of lesser players being useless.

NBA live 16 had a horrendous shot meter but I did appreciate that it was near impossible to get 100% on the shot meter.

I was referring to the cpu's pick and roll defense. I can make adjustments or user my big to sag off. For the human player it's a money play vs the cpu.

If I get too good at the shot meter, I will explore this option. It sounds like it would be fun.

Probably a dumb question but with limited gaming time I mostly go straight to Play Now and play. Is there anywhere in the demo that explains the icons and meter below players? Or a blog I missed?

The icon represents your play style. The grey meter is your stamina and depletes over time (short and long term). The one that starts to turn green or red is your mentality meter. If you are all the way red or green, you'll have different boosts/penalties based on your playstyle (shooters shoot, rim protectors block and rebound, etc.).

I've been left with no choice but to use the pass icons when passing into the post, especially depending on where I'm standing on the court.

If I don't use the pass icon, my pass sails over to the other side of the court and gets picked off.

So I write this to say that I don't know what it is but there's some disconnect with the analog stick and pass direction. There are countless times I'm attempting to pass the ball to a guy standing right next to me and instead the pass goes cross court killing an offensive opportunity with a turnover.

I also play on broadcast so it's possible that has something to do with it?
