You can edit before you start franchise.

Gameplay is stupid flawed. The control on shooting is not there. I put up shots that have no business rimming out...then other shots look too strong only to softly roll in. Point blank layups pouring out the rim. Moments when I would easily bang on players turn into a weak layup. Its pretty frustrating to witness.

So we control the entire team in court battles?

Yes. The mode only makes sense if you do.

So, court battles is just a retrofitted ultimate team? Like a street ultimate team? Where you cannot player lock?

There's actually a ruleset that you or any opponent can make the court battle game mandatory to player lock.

By mandatory meaning there’s an option?

Re: NBA Live 19 Trial For EA Access Subscribers Available Now

It’s not ultimate team. It’s just a fun strategy mode.

You own your court, and you defend it by using 5 players from your roster of players that you unlock. But these 5 are not controlled by you, they are controlled by the AI. So it is a single player mode, essentially.

The trick is, there are gobs and gobs of rule sets and handicaps you use to make it tougher for your opponent to beat your court. Rule sets are intended to play to your team’s strength. Handicaps Force the human opponent to assemble their team or play in a way that increases the difficulty.

For my court, I am using a bigs line-up, with a C, two PFs, Ben Simmons as my SG, and a PG. The rule set is Inside Out. Dunks are worth 4, layups -3, jumpers - 2, and three pointers - 1. THere are also gameplans to unlock and use, a DVR I have Feed the Bigs.

I don’t know if anyone has handicaps unlocked yet. But they can force you to use certain players or types of players, or add other chalkenges to make beating the AI tougher.

Games might be to 11 or 21. They could be two halves. There are some really cool rule sets. Before the game you can see who your opponent is using, and what their rules are. You can then adjust your roster and gameplan to attack them.

THe goal is to control as many courts as possible. If you control your own, you earn more for your wins. If someone beats you, then to get control back you have to beat their squad by their rules. So it behooves you to always defend your court before attacking.

You are given a range of teams to take on, both above and below your team’s OVR. You also can scroll through a list of your friends’ courts, which is where I focus, because that is fun. You earn points based on your opponnts’ OVR, the difficulty you choose, and the difficulty of the rule sets and handicaps. Those points are used to assemble a roster, unlock rule sets, handicaps, and gameplans, and to customize your court.

The games are quick and fun. The halves are just 5 minutes each, generally. I played a match to 21 that was like skins. If a team takes a shot, but misses, the points that shot is worth is banked. The next shot that goes in gets the points for that shot and the banked points.

So my opponent missed a three, and I then came back and score a regular basket, which netted me 5 points. Same thing happened on the next possessions, so after two possessions I was up 10-0. Obviously that was over super quick.

Some have pointed out that the AI can struggle to play some of the rule sets. But that’s the point. You have to craft a team, a rule set, a handicap, and your team’s gameplay to overcome that. This is not sim. But it is fun and rewarding.

Thanks a lot! I’ll have to do that.

Where do I buy shoes on this game? I'm playing the trial version and I'm in the league and don't want to wear the default Nike kicks but I don't see crates for kicks like they had last year

After playing this game all last weekend I'm convinced ea is basically going to sales us $60 pick up play game

I mean seriously player editing is lacking again, there is still no sense of player individuality

I'm not going to list the other issues list is too long

This is the perfect pickup up play basketball game without caring about the actual nba side of it

once you go into the nba store you should see a screen where you can change outfits and equip shoes etc. It's in a few places, should be on the main screen of "The One" too.

I just tried doing this and it's telling me I have to buy the game.

I played on profile 1, 10hrs ran out, signed in with profile 2 (which has an ear access account as well,) and it told me my time had expired/purchase the game.

Make sure you sign out of the profile that you ran out of time with before you launch the game. It will sometimes default to it if your signed into both pre game launch.

Also just so you know sometimes the game will boot you out of the game shortly after it loads saying something along the lines of “you switched profiles” just reload the profile you want to use and you should be good to go.
