I think the other thing that should be mentioned is that a strong argument for Live always seems to be the lack of micro transactions compared to 2k. I have zero doubt that if and when EA gets a better market share that won’t be the case. I’d like to give EA the benefit of the doubt but I just don’t see them choosing to make less money.

The lack of microtransactions should be seen as a result of circumstance more than the goodness of EA in my opinion.

I think what a lot of people coming on this year or late last year miss is that some Live supporters have been on the "solid foundation" train for years. This is year 4 for them. They have gotten past the "this isnt 2K" aspect a long time ago and now look at the game independently. So when certain aspects of the game havent evolved or have even devolved within that amout of time...its a little harder for them to be optimistic. Now, some have enjoyed every bit of the ride, which is perfectly fine, but there's a reason why some feel the way they do.

I agree with this whole heartedly. As one of the few that really liked 16 I was super frustrated that 17 was cancelled. I was then pretty massively disappointed with 18. I’m sick of believing in the plan.

The thing about it for me though, and maybe I’m dumb for this but 19 makes me believe we are finally there and ready to build onto it into the future.

The gameplay first and foremost has to be right and they just couldn’t get it there. I think 18, although I hated it was the actual real promising start point but it needed a lot of ironing out. I think they successfully did that this year. The gameplay needs some work but it doesn’t need the massive changes or improvements as it has in years past and I think they can finally focus on the rest of the game.

Again maybe I’m a sucker but I really think next year will be a big jump.

I agree with both of you guys.....your both right.....

- Live is getting better (little by little) from live 16 to now.

- Easports is huge/major gaming company and live is minor leagues game within thier portfolio it’s not a triple A title (madden/fifa) type game. Ea has to put the resources and money into live like they do with other games in order to slay the beast and take back the crown.

EA has all the hockey market and the MTX is only on ultimate team.

It doesnt pollute the my player or my career at all.

NHL 19 has lootboxes but they arent purchasable at all. And you level up by playing. Period.

Yea I mean I saw live before. I've enjoyed both gms but really developed a distaste after elite. I kept an eye on 16 but someone told me there wasn't net play or something like that, and the other gm was pretty good that year.



It's not 2k. 2k is 2k and to me also has big problems. I can deal with the live problems more because I don't feel like I've got some big weight around my neck. I took all the players off my court and replaced them wnba players last night and someone immediately took my court. It's funny cuz it's not been taken but maybe once before. They put on a wack rule set and wack stipulations and I was already tired so I was like whatever.



Point is, it's not that serious. I think 2k fans are serious because it requires a serious investment. As such they have a tinge of elitism. There are parts I don't like about live but it's consistent. That's the framework. I don't feel angry, if I don't wanna play live nothing is lost and I just turn it off. That's a video game.



When I do feel like playing it, it's fun. I've put a good amount of time into it. I got a bunch of dudes and I've played LG with them all on different teams and it's fun to a point. I now know how to get the cpu buckets so it means I can win in both lg and pro am when everyone quits. Is it realistic, no. Did I play 1 v 1 pro am vs someone who dropped 90 and the whole gm consisted of me holding double team and playing middle field. Yea i did. Did it piss me off? Not really.



I know if I had my wing defender I would have killed dude. It is what it is.



Games are games. I've been playing games a long time. Of the crowd that doesn't have the time or energy to grind, it's a amazing they don't appreciate a game like live. It's not grind at all. It's not micros, it's grind and the sheer, arguably intentional frustration that is free from live that makes it good.



I wanna see more. I always want more. But I stand by what I said. I could probably fix this game with just some new ideas. I could probably make it play the way I wanted with sliders even, tho some areas would still be lacking, but since you can't use sliders in the modes I play or online it's like eh. I mean, that's what most patches are anyway I think. Slider changes.



Sucks dudes were in it with 16 and feel the progress from16 to 19 isn't as significant as it should be, but you can do it back wards too. I feel the progress from 18 to 19 is enough that there's no reason to expect it won't be much better next year, if it keeps taking 18-19 incremental steps. I think another mistake is people want ea to retake the crown or whatever. I doubt it'll ever be like that. They need to finish their game. I've played indie games and had faith in them and I think it's true live is more like an indie game.



We'll see in the end. If 20 looks like trash I won't buy it.

Like I said people are different and they want different things. Live works for me to play alone and online. No complaints. 8/10 for me. If in two years ill be like Augh live sucks we aren't moving forward at all like I said I got mad bball gms I can play, old gms. Can buy a manager Sim or whatever. I just love bball and I don't want my hobby to be exploited. I want to enjoy a game. Life is hard. Live isn't. New slogan.

I guess that goes without saying for me. Last time I was stressed about a video game I was a teenager scared to walk down the hallways playing Resident Evil 2, lol. All fun and games end of the day.

Feedback is just about improving that experience even moreso.

I go back and forth between Live and 2k every year. Since I don't play franchise this is the one year I won't go back. Love no micro transactions and love the rise, live run, and the gameplay.

From my gaming perspective, I really just think they need to add better franchise and a few more things, and they are there. So I see the potential.

But my realistic side sees 2k continually raking in millions. Players give them Free advertising constantly. Just days into Live 19, a brand new game and I was struggling to get 3 v 3 games or 5 v 5 in matchmaking. I was even struggling to find some head to head opponents. I'm sure a few months from now, I won't be able to find head to head opponents at all. And we will 100% be restricted to 3 v 3 due to lack of players.

This game SHOULD make huge gains. It has the POTENTIAL and is a couple steps away from being game changing, unfortunately, I don't trust their marketing, and 2k seems like an unstoppable beast. I just can't get on the micro transaction bandwagon. I just hope and pray Live can have better sales this year than previous and make a Live 20

I gotta say I've been having enjoying Live 19. I also enjoyed Live 18, didn't like Live 16. The rim physics improved in Live 19 whereas the commentary is just plain awful. I turned that off. I gave Live 18 a chance because it was a statement to 2K regarding their approach to VC and micro transactions even though I have never spent money on that and NEVER will.

This year I bought 2K 19 as well but so far so good if you take the game in stride. I had one weird bug show up in a game where the opposing side became invisible and you only saw them dribbling the ball. This happened right after a TO and the only way to fix it was to call another TO.

But yesterday I played a game between the Magic and my Heat and the results were pretty realistic. I won the game 104-98 with 12 min qtrs. The only thing I wish this game had was a Season Mode, why in the hell have developers forced us to use Franchise Mode? I also wished this had a Play Live Now mode which is something MLB The Show does as well as Madden and NBA 2K where you can play along with your teams real schedule.

But I don't take the bugs too seriously including the invisible team. I should have left it that way as I was actually playing better without seeing them, LOL.

The game is on sale at GameStop (preowned) for 34.71 for PowerUp reward members. I had a 10 dollar trade card so I picked it up for ~25. Lol.
