Well that sucks. I was suppose to buy this on sale and then they pulled the plug. They couldn't even wait for the 6th like they advertised. Mistake or not, it was just for a few days and they could have acquired many players for their game with this sale. EA you suck.

And to add to that, they listed the game on sale until the 16th. They should have honored that price until that date IMO, or at least have another EA Sports title be a replacement for it. Just my .02 cents.Comment

Bought it yesterday for $23.99.
Worth it. Less (to essentially no) defensive frustration than the other game. Solid defensive player awareness. Haven’t seen any defensive head scratching moments other than potentially being able to abuse the pick and roll on default superstar. What’s EA response to the pick and roll?Last edited by strawberryshortcake; 10-04-2018, 09:41 PM.Comment

$39.99 starting next week at ebgames Canada.
I’m picking it up. Can’t go wrong at that price and getting the game before the pre-season.
I could wait longer and most likely get it for $19.99 but when ? Late November, or in 2019 or when the season is basically finished......Comment

Re: NBA Live 19 on Sale For $29.99 ($23.99 with PS Plus) Through October 16
It's a shame, this is the biggest failure in the franchise and just when it looked like they were turning a corner.
They're not the other company but they also have the ability to lean on things the other company doesn't have like Ultimate Team and they didn't.
I wonder just how long they can keep this going unless they take resources from somewhere else and build up Live.
They need a scenario like the WNBA where the league is trash but the NBA gives its money to them so they can keep it going. If Live just had one year of quality where it could add in animations and gameplay and modes and then it could just tweak those for a few years going forward.
The game this year is just lacking in every possible way and it's going down the drain. You can't sell enough copies so you have a smaller staff, that staff can't produce a top shelf game so you can't sell enough copies. Rinse and repeat.Comment

Re: NBA Live 19 on Sale For $29.99 ($23.99 with PS Plus) Through October 16
This is the biggest failure in the franchise? Worse than NBA Elite, Nba Live 16, NBA Live 18? Even if you consider 19 a bigger failure for the Live team than those games you can’t surely believe it’s a bigger failure than the numerous games that were canceled?
You kinda lost me there.
All those games (and the ones that weren't) were about "turning NBA games upside down" and "new and exciting ways to approach the game". They were starting out from zero and trying to introduce something that was totally different and revolutionary.
NBA Live 19 is the second game of the "back to basics core NBA Live experience" style of games. The foundation was laid last year and this was supposed to be a big year for the series.
You also had the other company taking hit after hit because of the bad business practices they had. Negative stories were written about them in the mainstream press, not just specialty sites like these.
This was NBA Live's time to strike, chances like this don't come for most companies but thanks to the course of events from last year they had a chance to gain real ground on the other company while also looking like a hero. Things like not having pay to win and no contracts were supposed to be the cherries on the top, not the only reason to play.
This is what I mean about getting the people making the game more help. This release should have been able to go toe to toe with the industry leader and if not unseat it at least give users a choice without losing quality.
NBA 19 isn't a bad game but things like animations and game modes are significantly worse than their competition. If it was an indie release of something like cricket that's understandable. This is one of the largest game companies in the world making a game featuring one of the largest sports in the world.Comment

What I would agree with you entirely on is that the time is right for live to go for it. Gameplay isn’t the biggest concern anymore. Sure it needs some improvements but it isn’t the biggest problem like it has been for 9 years. Put money into face scans and signature animations. Put money into a bigger team to really offer a fully realized franchise modes and start making some real head way on 2k. If your just gonna do what they are doing honestly as much as I live this game, just pack it in.2016 NLL Champion Saskatchewan Rush

Bought it the last few years and, was not impressed when the sale dropped VERY quickly...thus avoided it this season. It is hard to justify full price for a game that has a long established history of being a bargain bin game by the time the actual season tips off.
I am all for a bargain, but EA need to either protect the game's value much longer OR simply make this $29.99 on release day.Comment

Re: NBA Live 19 on Sale For $29.99 ($23.99 with PS Plus) Through October 16
It's funny how different people are.
I guess it is lives time to shine cuz the other game has a micro crisis but that's not gonna change. I really feel live is close. Need more contact animations inside. Footplanting on dunks.
Like if you make a max size max wt guy he actually moves like you'd expect. Rebounding and defense are animation tied. Not a lot of "live" balls but I think that's one way to level the tallest guys being the most op. I should not be rebounding and standing dunking with my 6 4 wing defender tho. I do expect w his str to be able to go back up and finish tho.
I am not sure if I like the patched inside scoring. A lot of things need work, but the framework is laid. This framework is so much better than live ten or even imo the other game. It's just about putting work in. And I dunno how anyone can think this game isn't a big step from last year, and I am ignorant cuz I didn't get them but from elite to 17 the thought of buying live for even 5 bucks was lulsy. If they hadn't offered a free online demo of 18 I might not have bought that either. I have faith. They are doing things the right way, slowly.
It's super bare bones but the frame work is solid. In the same way someone bumps you and you pick up the ball, or you enter a blow by animation, they need a contact radius around people inside esp on dunks but also lay ups. And they need to remember that with str, initiating the contact is a good shot. Just little things.
If you gave me like the live engine and a dev team I'm confident I could make the game good in a year. Sim game play at least. I think dudes wanting more than that are asking too much at this point. Deep franchise etc.
Differentiate between 3v3 Street and pro am more. Make pro am Sim. Add clubs or whatever and track records. That's the next step. Street crew, pro am crew. Let us unlock and choose Ai teammates too cuz we know live has a pop problem.
I can't say I am disappointed with live. I paid full last yr and 40 this yr. A sale is a sale.
I just don't see how this is the worst game of the series. It might have been the most disappointing to you, and that sucks. But it is what it is. I'm gonna stay w ea and have faith. Cuz other things aren't changing. They might.

I think what a lot of people coming on this year or late last year miss is that some Live supporters have been on the "solid foundation" train for years. This is year 4 for them. They have gotten past the "this isnt 2K" aspect a long time ago and now look at the game independently. So when certain aspects of the game havent evolved or have even devolved within that amout of time...its a little harder for them to be optimistic. Now, some have enjoyed every bit of the ride, which is perfectly fine, but there's a reason why some feel the way they do.Last edited by The 24th Letter; 10-07-2018, 07:48 AM.Comment
